I’m not the OP, but I can say from my experience as I also have a 6MT Tacoma, sport mode specifically helps with less turbo lag when using the gas pedal, but has zero effect when using cruise control to maintain a certain speed [at 6th gear uphill at 70 mph, for example].

I genuinely feel like you don’t need premium fuel unless it’s tuned, I’ve gotten as high as almost 24 mpg at the pump in my TRD Off Road 6MT, and I actually may start to beat it now that I deliver auto parts between dealerships (lots of highway driving). I’ve only once used premium, didn’t...
