Most thieves don't clone keys. They use a tablet to program a new on that they have. The OBD port has power and connectivity when the car is off.
The attack goes like this.
Gain access (break window or slim jim)
plug in to obd port.
program new key to overwrite old keys.
wait 1-2 mins
start and...
No way. 400 miles a day everyday including weekends and holidays. 26 oil changes. That's eight solid hours of driving a day everyday. The numbers just don't add up. It's a typo for sure. Carfax is so inaccurate it's almost useless.
It's not going to work once the thief disconnects the antennas. Just saying I wouldn't count on this.
Multiple air tags if you're really concerned. Fuel cut hidden GPS. You can go way down the rabbit hole on this.
All modern cars have some sort of connected features now days. Thieves know this. they will unhook the 4g/5g/Sat antennas as fast as possible rendering the apps useless.
This is the one I have. I works well for towing/hauling but made the ride significantly stiffer and bouncy in the rear when empty. Even only lowest Air setting (5psi)
