  1. Looking to upsize battery- Non- Hybrid TRD OR

I’ll admit that the Optima Orange Top QH6 lithium battery sounds interesting. I’ve worked with lithium batteries in a lot of other applications including E-bikes, RC cars, computers and so on. In most cases they have a lot of advantages. However, the charging requirements, heat cycling and peak...
  2. How is the durability of OEM TH fuel tank skid

Iā€˜ve checked that skidplate out closely. It’s pretty weak if you plan to drag the belly over rocks. For clean dirt, sand and a few small branches it’s fine.
  3. Mods Suggestions

Totally depends how you plan to use it. For me, solid rocker protection and a rear seat protector/cargo tray.
  4. Is a 4LO start from 2nd gear (manual) while offroading safe?

Perfectly acceptable. Your Tacoma has a transfer case low range ratio of 2.57:1, high range is of course 1:1. The transmission gear ratios are below. So theoretically, in the right conditions you could probably even start in 3rd gear low range with an effective gear ratio of 3.70:1. Starting in...
  5. WHATS THIS THUD SOUND!?

What was included in your lift kit? It sounds like maybe a loose rear control arm bolt. Or if new coils were included, maybe the rear control arm bolts were not tightened correctly with weight on the suspension.
  6. Weird Oily Accumulation On Right LCA

I only have a guess because mine looked similar for a minute. When I drained my oil, I found the oil plug is at an angle. The draining oil hit my drain pain and ricochet back up and splashed all over my passenger side lower control arm and inner wheel. The solution is to use an oil diffuser...
  7. Rock sliders vs steps & nerfs vs power running boards

It seems like the body-mount steps should be pretty rigid. When installing my sliders I noticed all the OE step mounting points on the underside of the cab. They looked well integrated and reinforced. Should be fine!
  8. Truck bed power outlets - how to keep always hot

Would have been really nice if the bed power was controlled by a dash switch regardless of ignition position. It can certainly be done with aftermarket stuff.
  9. Towing Review: 4th Gen Tacoma + Airstream Sport 22' Trailer

Good input! My towing results are similar. I pull around 4,000 pounds. My truck has a manual transmission, which I really like for towing. It will hold 5th gear almost everywhere, but I’ll drop to 4th on the steeper California climbs. I can use 6th on the flats and downhills, but it generally...
  10. Rock sliders vs steps & nerfs vs power running boards

Sounds like you are struggling with the compromises each option has. You kinda have to pick what’s most important to you and go with that. You clearly are not making an uneducated decision. I believe you’ve put more thought into it than most people do. Personally, overall protection and ground...
  11. CAUTION - Power-Tailgate can lock when closed

Confirmed! After two minutes of my key sitting in the bed with tailgate closed, the tailgate will not open.
  12. CAUTION - Power-Tailgate can lock when closed

Weird. Mine works fine with the doors locked and the card key near the middle of the bed. I can open the tailgate but not the doors with the key card located here. I can’t imagine the bed cover makes a diffence.
  13. Limited 2024 Rear shock question

I do not know of a solution for AVS, perhaps ARB/Old Man Emu has or is working on a solution. the company appears to offer shocks for the Limited model. I imagine the heavier coils won’t affect the system, aside from limited valving. Please post up your results!
  14. Cracked windshield again

Have any of you found that the aftermarket windshields are more durable than the OE part? Got my first windshield chip repair done at around 5,000 miles. My Jeep Gladiator went through about a windshield a year, but it’s way more vertical. Hoping the Tacoma is not as vulnerable.
  15. Limited 2024 Rear shock question

I’ve had a similar issue with a large cooler, rooftop tent, firewood and a UTV trailer. The real solution involves a higher coil rate, especially for you since you likely won’t take the truck cap off regularly. ARB/Old Man Emu offers a couple different coil rates for stock height trucks to...
