Disconnecting the 12V battery typically shouldn't do anything, and is recommended whenever doing any electrical work, especially anything near any of the airbag components..
First - check the 12V battery voltage - if it's above 12.4V or so it's fine.
Next check fuse block - make sure you...
I'd get a second opinion - unless it failed due to damage I'd expect all keyfobs provided with the truck to be covered under the warranty.
And from experience with using the Lexus wallet key with my 3rd gen, when the battery gets low the truck will alert to replace the battery - which is a CR2412
@bitflogger thanks for the info. A dash button would be nice provided it didn't turn off the camera (?!?!).
I do find it surprising that Toyota - a company from a nation in which bicycling is extremely popular - wouldn't think to program the system to ignore an empty bicycle rack. :crazy...
Question on that as a 3rd gen owner probably buying a 4th gen sometime.
Would an empty 1UP single tray require disabling PKSB, or is it only needed when there's a bicycle loaded?
I typically leave my rack on the truck as I use the rack a couple times a week. Curious if I'd be keeping PKSB...
I suspect the ability to tweak stuff depends on what it is you're wanting to do. In your case you had to find an OR Premium with 6MT first, but then paint color and port-installed options were easily adjusted to fit your desire.
I did similar in 2016 - dealer was able to provide me the config...
Yes, through 2023 they offered stand alone remote connect at $8/mo or $80/yr.
For 2024+ it's only in a $15/mo bundle with no annual discount.
That's what's so annoying - they already had a complete ordering & fulfillment system so they could easily offer it again if they so chose.
There may...
Tacoma owners manual mentions holding unlock to roll down windows, but it might need to be enabled by dealer (which means Carista might be able to enable it if it's not working).
Yes, BMW tried the heated seats subscription but discontinued due to backlash. I'd imagine we'll see continued...
Don't announce your arrival as if it burdensome for you to join the conversation and then accuse others of being on a high horse. Rather hypocritical.
My first mention of downloadable maps was meant to be helpful, solve the problem for future.
Not sure what perspective you think I don't...
Your 2012 Ram had factory remote start over cellular from a phone app?
You sure about that?
Nav is immaterial since CarPlay and android auto provide that, just download maps if you will be in poor service areas.
Not sure what the other things you mention have to do with anything.
For next time, download offline maps on your phone before you go.
Since the GPS signals enabling your phone to know it's location are broadcast from the GPS satellites, you only need cell service to access map data. If you download that data in advance you're basically in the same situation...
Your 4Runner has the nav built into the head unit, with maps on a microsd card and likely still has the eight year old data. The nav you had with your new Tacoma was over-the-air data and would pretty much always be up to date.
I wouldn't mind so much if Toyota still offered Remote Connect...
What does the label in the door frame recommend for tire pressure?
Overinflated tires tend to provide less traction and wear unevenly, as well as increase risk of blowout if you hit potholes or road debris.
I'd stick to a max of 10% above the pressure recommended by Toyota or tire manufacturer.
