Is this a known thing? I was walking by my truck today and noticed an orange tint I didn't see when new (~6k miles). Today was a busy day, so I didn't get on the forums until about midnight so sorry for the batman style night photos, but yiiiikes....
maybe (hopefully?) it's just mud, but...
i drove a hybrid and non, and it was night and day. you really need to drive the two choices in the same afternoon, even if one is from one dealer and the other is across town. don't let the salesmen give you a hard time, just speak very little and say you want to simply drive X or Y.
it's not...
It's not a snorkel, it's a reloaction of the air intake up above "dusty road conditions". a snorkel is used when the engine bay is sealed. water will flow directly into the engine bay via the wheel/grill openings.
it sucks you had to find out the hard way, and sucks even more it's an issue, but hopefully a few more will see this.
I still kinda worry that the part will fail "hidden" now, like that top cast crown will shatter under the part we install, but not be obvious.
Toyota really should put a more...
Tinkerer's adventure covered this in one of his videos, I bought these as a simple bolt on upgrade.
