  1. Got stuck overnight in 2' of snow - lessons learned

Great video and I love your honesty. This is one reason I went with a wedge camper over a trailer. I've been on to many forest roads where I had to turn around and/or back down a hill because of road blockage from snow or fallen trees and in many of those situations a trailer would make it...
  2. Heritage Stripe - Taco Vinyl (Lower Bed)

You do you and don't listen to the haters. It's your truck. If you like it, go for it. I'm planning out some topo stripes for my truck and I can guarantee that most will hate it. So what. Who knows, I might not like it either but it's fairly cheap and completely reversible. That said, the...
  3. 24 Month/20K Mile Service

I've always used Mobil 1 but the past year or so I've switched to Costco's KS full synthetic (0W20 in the Toyota). I change oil every 5,000 at a minimum and I've never had an oil related failure in any vehicle. Our 2006 Infiniti M45 has 160k+ miles and has never had a single problem.
  4. 24 Month/20K Mile Service

Almost 32,000 miles on my '24 and the dealer hasn't seen it since I drove it off the lot. I have done my own oil changes on every vehicle I've owned for the past 40 years...
  5. Jerry can recommendations.

I've not personally used one but I've heard good things about Wavian cans. Gelg cans are generally well reviewed as well and are a bit cheaper.
  6. Rear firewall location?

What I did was drill a 1/2" hole in the subwoofer enclosure and ran all my wiring out the baffle that sits behind the subwoofer. It's been over a year and I've noticed absolutely no ill effects from this (no dust building up behind the subwoofer or anything else negative). The hole doesn't...
  7. California RiGd Supply - UltraSwing - Short-Fit Spare Tire Hitch Mount

Ah. It's the selection of the tire mount that changes whether it's compatible or not based on the lug nut pattern. Nothing to do with the rack itself....
  8. California RiGd Supply - UltraSwing - Short-Fit Spare Tire Hitch Mount

I'm just curious, RiGd's website says the UltraSwing isn't compatible with the '24 Tacoma. Any idea why that might be? I've been toying with the idea of getting something like this but I'm inclined to just buy the Victory rear bumper w/swing out and be done with it.
  9. Large Dual Piston Air Compressor Install

The on/off switch is in the power cubby in the back of the bed. It's protected so there is no way it will accidentally be powered on, and if it accidentally did get left on, you would know pretty quick. Without a hose connected the compressor will only run for a second before the pressure hits...
  10. Large Dual Piston Air Compressor Install

Not necessary. The switch just mimics the stock switch on the unit. The power cables go straight to the battery and replace the stock alligator clips that come with the compressor. The only real difference when mounting it permanently is that I, of course, put a fuse inline next to the battery.
  11. Martin Off Road Camper Roof Rack for GFC Campers

Nice! I've been waiting for something similar to fit under my Lone Peak. I'm not so concerned about the extra cargo space but am thinking the wind deflector would help with gas mileage and wind noise. I have thought about buying an off-the-shelf rack and cutting it down to fit but that...
  12. ⚠️ Trailhunter Onboard Air vs Aftermarket — I Didn’t Expect This Result

I have the Thor's Lightning with a Speedflate hose kit and the four preset deflaters, so basically all the same set up. It's fantastic. I permanently mounted my compressor, effectively where the factory compressor would be, between the bed and fender. It's been six months and so far, so good...
  13. Dirtbox Overland Canopy/Camper + Prinsu Rack

Nice. You can't have too much power! I have two Renogy 100 watt panels and they work great but I'd love to have more...
  14. Dirtbox Overland Canopy/Camper + Prinsu Rack

Thanks. I agree with all your changes. Nicely done! I thought it looked like a Victory bumper but I didn't think they have been out that long so you must have gotten a very early production run. The stop plate seems a little goofy the way it sticks out from the bumper. Maybe powder coating...
  15. Dirtbox Overland Canopy/Camper + Prinsu Rack

What rear bumper/swing outs do you have? What are your thoughts (positives, negatives) on it?
  16. Trailhunter rear seat delete by Goose Gear

Those look really nice but it's a lot of money so I did my own version with some plywood I had laying around. Not nearly as sweet as the Goose Gear stuff but it was almost free.....
  17. Opt-7 rear light bar

I've had the Opt7 48" installed since April '24 and it has been great. No led's have burned out or anything. Install it using magnets because you need to slide the light bar out of the way to get at the spare tire mechanism. BTW, Not sure the difference between the one I linked on Amazon vs...
  18. East Coast Gear Supply diff bushing DIY install (step by step how-to)

Nice write up! Just to be clear, the website doesn't list a separate kit for the '24+ Tacoma. Did you use the kit designed for 2016 and newer Tacomas?
  19. Lone Peak Camper 5ft bed

I've had a V1 since June '24 and haven't looked at the available accessories recently so I'm not really up on the V2 but my thought is that everyone is different in their skill levels and what they're comfortable doing after the purchase. Some people want a turnkey solution, some want to do...
