After watching TFL Truck video, they do a great job of explaining my thoughts on towing with a tacoma. I personal opinion stays, I wont tow more than 3k lbs with my tacoma, but to each their own.....
They push it up around 6k lbs on steep grade. Interesting watch.
TFL Truck - Tacoma Tow Test
I agree that it tows as well as my 2017 Tundra.
Personally I just don’t like towing more than 3k lbs with any (1/2ton, tundra, F150/1500) or smaller vehicles.
I do tow a trailer with mowers/yard maintenance around town each week with the Tacoma and it does well, I just won’t take on the...
Update
Got a OME BP51 lift, Method 705 wheels +35
BFG KO3 285/75-17 load E
absolutely amazing!
much happier than I would have been with the used 4Runner wheel I was going to try and make work
no idea what setting for the front, shop said they could turn it up still (which I will do as I don’t like the amount of rake when unloaded)
they said the put OME med duty spring in rear for load I requested (500lbs)
yes above before and after photos are with mowing trailer connected.
here is...
I went to my local shop requesting the Bilstien 61xx series but also wanted to customize for winch and from bumper and weight in bed. They recommended the OME so we ordered.
Just had OME BP51 installed last Friday
Super happy with the ride
also had method 705 wheels +35 offset
BFG KO3s...
On ice, I have been impressed….. are they as good as Michelin X-Ice snow tires…. Not sure. We didn’t have a cold snowy/icy winter this year, record low snow fall for the entire Rocky Mountain range
I did drive to Jackson Hole over the Christmas holiday. Storm hit the day before I went, so all...
I realize a little late to the thread, but may help someone else
I have KO3’s on both of my trucks, and the Toyo open country 3’s on the wife’s Yukon.
Go to YouTube and search for AT snow comparison…….. BFG KO3 was there choice
we have found great success with both tires for winter driving...
I just weighed all my boxes in the bed, bed cover, recovery gear is approx 500lbs. Steath bumper and 12k warn winch, LED Light bar is 200 lbs on the front end. Ya, that rear end bounce/bottoming on the interstate is bugging me. Have been looking at suspension upgrades. Everyones...
I picked up some 4Runner TRD PRO wheels that are a few years old with 285/70 tires, wheel are 17" with a +4 offset. (3rd gen Tacoma wheels)
I don't like them sticking out that far and all the paint damage that will happen. going to have to find some 17" aftermarket wheels that I like...
I never weighed my bumper, but for everything that came off, I really don’t believe that much was added back on
Winch is 80lbs
LED light bar was a few pounds
Bumper I guess was 80 ish
But crash bar was maybe 50lbs that had to come off. And maybe trim 10 lbs of plastic.
Hope this gives you...
Thanks, looks great with those tires! Will do some more research on wheel specs between the SR5 and TRD OR. I would think they are similar offset and width..... but who knows.
Looks good, do you have a photo straight on? to see width.
Are those stock wheels? Wondering about wheel offset, compaired to my TRD wheels on my OR.
Want to understand what you did for lift, just shocks, no springs?!?! I am confused, sorry
You got to remove the mud flaps when running trails down there.
I ran F&T with the tacoma the first week of November. With my stock 265 size tires, did kiss passenger side of the rear bumper.
So got home, ordered the ARB rear bumper, and installed before thanksgiving.
Ran 7mile Rim, kinda miss...
Ya, drive it, enjoy it. When something becomes an issue then, and only then to you need to consider any mods.
guys building a mall crawler, for what?!?! to drain your wallet? I would rather enjoy many vehicles than sink all my funds into one.
That is, unless your wallet is thick and can...
