  1. T24A-FTS 2.4L COMPLETE ENGINE TEAR DOWN

My new block is a 2025 block manufactured in November. Suspect the issue with the 26 block was an oversight in the block machining that was not caught by anyone in the quality control and quality assurance crew or the person who installed the rear main. Incorrect offset on the CnC after tool...
  2. T24A-FTS 2.4L COMPLETE ENGINE TEAR DOWN

So both my truck and the truck in the video have 03/2026 build dates.
  3. T24A-FTS 2.4L COMPLETE ENGINE TEAR DOWN

I can understand that. Especially if the engine in question had many thousands of miles on it. But these two trucks (so far mine and his) are new. We didn’t pay for engines built in mechanics bays with potentially less parts than are required. I would say that would be a lesser product...
  4. T24A-FTS 2.4L COMPLETE ENGINE TEAR DOWN

I suspect this is exactly what happened to my engine. I’m going to check my vin but they were built in the same month. March 2026

  7. Pics! Update May28/26 Reliability issues truck 1 rear driveshaft, truck 2 blown rear main seal

Update. My new block got dropped in shipping, scrapped and now a new one is on the way. Another week at least.
  8. Pics! Update May28/26 Reliability issues truck 1 rear driveshaft, truck 2 blown rear main seal

So my 26 off-road with 1200kms now needs a new shortblock. Apparently there is metal contamination in the oil which they believe has plugged an oil galley. No idea how long this will take. Sounds like dirty block like the tundras or something is letting go inside the engine. Who knows. Toyota...
  9. Pics! Update May28/26 Reliability issues truck 1 rear driveshaft, truck 2 blown rear main seal

No idea. I’m expecting a call from Toyota Canada on Monday. These new trucks are not for me. Clearly there are larger issues with this truck. Good thing I kept my 06
  10. Pics! Update May28/26 Reliability issues truck 1 rear driveshaft, truck 2 blown rear main seal

Truck repaired and back together. They road tested it , drove 30-45 kms and it’s blowing oil again.
  11. Pics! Update May28/26 Reliability issues truck 1 rear driveshaft, truck 2 blown rear main seal

The dealer suspects the seal. see what you think. These pics are from the dealer foreman
  12. Pics! Update May28/26 Reliability issues truck 1 rear driveshaft, truck 2 blown rear main seal

Only because the original service manager told me to ask for one. It was never offered
  13. Pics! Update May28/26 Reliability issues truck 1 rear driveshaft, truck 2 blown rear main seal

My truck is being transported to a different dealer to expedite the diagnosis and repair. Toyota Canada is very aware my position moving forward. It’s been extremely frustrating. They did approve me for a rental and I just got it today. No other updates.
  14. Pics! Update May28/26 Reliability issues truck 1 rear driveshaft, truck 2 blown rear main seal

So my local dealer was able to tell me that there is a severe oil leak (duh) coming from the bell housing. So likely rear main seal. Service manager (who I respect) said “It wasn’t leaking. It was POURING out of the bell housing”. So I have a claim in with Toyota Canada. They haven’t offered me...
  15. Seat Covers for 4th Gen — Getting Close, Need Your Thoughts on Install

I have the EKR neoprene and so far they’re good. Go slow with routing the straps for the front bottoms especially with power seats. Also I just used one finger to get the elastic back around the underside clips, with the seat back reclined a bunch and followed around the clip. Easy. removing...
  16. Seat Covers for 4th Gen — Getting Close, Need Your Thoughts on Install

A good quality YouTube video is very helpful. The front seats have a sweet spot in the angle to allow an easier time passing the cover between the seat and base. Also reclining the seat helps get the lower cover straps off. Tips like that are a huge help and should be noted on the video
  17. Pics! Update May28/26 Reliability issues truck 1 rear driveshaft, truck 2 blown rear main seal

Nothing in the driveway. Not a drop. The only odd thing I can remember is a slight burn off smell I thought was just new truck burn off but now given what’s happened I’m assuming was a small seal leak. After I shut it off the oil stopped leaking and I still registered a small amount on the...
  18. Pics! Update May28/26 Reliability issues truck 1 rear driveshaft, truck 2 blown rear main seal

Hi all. I must have the worst luck in the world at the moment. I bought a 2025 trd sport last November in Ottawa Canada and had a vibration the dealer took 5 months to diagnose. I ended up trading it in after the replaced driveshaft still didn’t eliminate the issue totally. The dealer gave me...
