  1. STILLEN Air Intake Box & Dyno Results for 2024 Tacoma

The YouTube video from stillen explains the restriction and how it impacts performance. I am curious how much this box increases noise. I know on naturally aspirated engines, it makes a lot more noise exiting from the throttle body. On my 87 Grand National, When changing the air filter set up, I...
  2. STILLEN Air Intake Box & Dyno Results for 2024 Tacoma

Ahhh! True! A mass air flow sensor is restrictive and for stock engines, a very efficient way to measure air flow. For a performance engine-a speed density setup, when done properly- will create more power… but the risk is it isn’t as accurate/precise as a mass air flow setup. for...
  3. STILLEN Air Intake Box & Dyno Results for 2024 Tacoma

I apologize if I wasn’t clear in my writing. The mass air flow sensor doesn’t measure measure air pressure drop, but the cooling effect air passing through the MAF/electrical resistance which is sent to the Denso Gen 4 ECU along with ambient air temp values to the same ECU, in conjunction with a...
  4. STILLEN Air Intake Box & Dyno Results for 2024 Tacoma

Yes, one could throw the OE air cleaner assembly back on, but if Toyota HQ Looks at any data log pertaining to ambient air charge temp vs mass air flow data, they could find that something wasn’t kosher, but that’s really going out on a limb with an accusation. Their only anecdotal proof would...
  5. STILLEN Air Intake Box & Dyno Results for 2024 Tacoma

My guess is the OEM air cleaner assembly is designed as a compromise- one that tries to offer enough air volume and also dampen turbo noise?
  6. STILLEN Air Intake Box & Dyno Results for 2024 Tacoma

I used to own an 87 Buick Grand National, I bought it with 2751 miles on it. I drag raced it at sears point a lot. I can tell you that cooler ambient air temperature would make a lot more horsepower, even though the vehicle had an intercooler. The MPH difference would increase by 3 mph at the...
  7. White smoke or vapor at startup?

Likely moisture/condensation in your exhaust pipes
  8. First Blackstone Engine Oil Analysis - Seems Normal (2024 Tacoma 2.4L I-4 Turbo T24A-FTS)

Yes, but only if you sell to a tribologist… sorry, bad joke- but I had to do it
  9. First Blackstone Engine Oil Analysis - Seems Normal (2024 Tacoma 2.4L I-4 Turbo T24A-FTS)

I do not know what the factory oil brand is, perhaps eneos… but Toyota dealership oil has all of the indications that Mobil 1 makes it… the bottle design and location is a strong indicator of it. Perhaps a second oil change with oil test would prove my theory correct… different oils, based upon...
  10. First Blackstone Engine Oil Analysis - Seems Normal (2024 Tacoma 2.4L I-4 Turbo T24A-FTS)

I wonder if the molybdenum was From break-in lube which is sometimes Used on valve train on new engines… I will send in a sample, just need to get to my first oil change interval-should be soon.
  11. Got To Test The 24’ Tacoma w/ iForce Max Powertrain!

From what I noticed on my dashboard, no boost in first gear or second gear when on a steep hill. This is Toyota’s choice. My old Buick Grand National would boost each gear. This is likely a choice Toyota made to limit force on the drivetrain. Since the turbo is a twin scroll design, it should be...
  12. I don’t understand the hype

Op, I have found that tilting the fuel dispensing handle more upright after fuel shutoff and depressing the lever can yield another 1.25 gallons after “automatic” fuel dispensing shutoff. Others on this forum have mentioned the fuel dispenser shutoff frustration. In my opinion, this is my only...
  13. Speculation on future performance upgrades?

Your question prompted me to research.. I assume much by looking at the Tundra V6 turbo Berger option, but it is what I think is similar enough. The tundra peeps like what they have, one guy sold his-selling his truck. Another person gave the same warning that I was concerned about… warranty...
  14. Speculation on future performance upgrades?

Also this aftermarket air cleaner with a cone filter was utilized in conjunction with the Berger mods… just pointing this out, no judgement- https://hpsperformanceproducts.com/products/hps-performance-cold-air-intake-kit-2024-toyota-tacoma-pickup-2-4l-turbo-taco-827-779
  15. Speculation on future performance upgrades?

Looks like this Berger JB4 tuner is getting closer to being released…. Wonder if they are using ms109 fuel to get the extreme horsepower increase? https://burgertuning.com/products/jb4-for-toyota-tacoma-turbo?srsltid=AfmBOoqApJ-4mLe4nnnn5jB4dh_ERoyaJIPqoGvJF56J7K8G4eUvJRii&variant=45712792682670
  16. Transmission temp while climbing in 4H

You are not alone in this observation. I will be installing a transmission oil cooler with a fan attached to it, on the return side of the OE trans heat sink…Plenty of room to mount this underneath the truck. Fan can be switch actuated from the dash, or by a fan temp switch. great photos and...
  17. System Malfunction after Lift

Call the dealer and ask them if they have ADAS equipment… if the service writer is unaware of the term “ADAS” then ask for the shop Forman, bypass the middle man. There can be many errors with the sensors before they even provide the warning in the screen. After any suspension upgrades, I would...
  18. Cold Air Intake CAI System?

From my experience with oiled cone air filters-the mass air flow sensor may need to be cleaned with a circuit board friendly/mass air flow sensor cleaner. Sometimes the oil that coats the cotton air filtration media can transfer and coat the mass air flow sensor, and could potentially prevent...
  19. What is this and how do I nuke it? "Enter 6-digit PIN"

I cut and pasted from the link above: if you don't remember your PIN, you can reset it using the Toyota app (hopefully the salesman walked you through setting that up when you purchased the car). This is for an iPhone, but I'm sure it's similar if you have the app on an Android: 1) Once in...
  20. 2024 Toyota Tacoma engine noise reduction with premium fuel

Since 5w30 synthetic is recommended for the same engine for warm weather for the European market… I would say that Toyota would have a difficult time punishing you for trying to use a more robust oil for hot climates. Thinner oils are more thermally conductive yet fail at a lower temperature.
