@goin2drt so there should be footage while the truck was parked. When parked, it would operate the same way it does when driving. The PRO adapter is simply a powered (data-less) USB port that stays on. In the 'T' setting you have it in, it's on a 4hr timer so you should see 4hr worth of recorded...
@goin2drt do you mean it was not recording at all while parked?
It appears there's confusion about what functionality the Dongar PRO is responsible for versus the dashcam. The Dongar PRO simply provides power while the vehicle is off, just like the majority of hardwire kits on the market...
@RigidYota thanks for the feedback re: the whine... I promise we'll get it fixed, we ordered the components and getting the PCBAs made asap. It was just not something we expected because it's very current dependent and we focused all our testing on high power. Just curious if you tried plugging...
@RigidYota congratulations on having really good hearing! There's a slight coil whine when the adapter outputs in the 300mA-650mA range which is a byproduct of normal operation. The whine is only at that operation range and in fact goes completely away at higher power (plug in an iPhone, laptop...
@sunfm so I checked with my shipping rep and it sounds like the Canadapost strike means timely passage of imports can’t be guaranteed…so it was removed as an option until it’s resolved. USPS uses Canadapost as a final mile courier so unfortunately it would have the same issue. I’m asking them to...
@ChrisC regarding Nexar. Their OBD adapter is just a USB-C adapter hooked up to the OBD port, which has constant-power. It basically achieves the same thing as Dongar PRO which also supplies USB-C.
@Mini2nut let me know how the E360 goes! I got to see the unit at SEMA and tbh it’s much heftier than I was hoping..definitely a little hefty to use as an action cam, as they’re pitching. Vantrue has made some generally great cameras nonetheless.
Thanks for the heads up! I haven’t heard about this but there would be no issues using this… the BlackVue input is a simple 12V and our PRO adapter allows 12V. Note on the BlackVue page it says it doesn’t support parking mode, but I think they probably did this assuming (correctly) that USB-C...
So you need a dashcam with cellular connections and tbh they all have a lot of downsides… especially subscription costs. Garmin has a plan with their Dashcam Live but doesn’t have rear and inside recording and is a bad value overall for the price ($400) Vantrue has a cellular module but you...
Is that via Amazon? Our site uses Passport shipping and they (are supposed to) calculate the best rate plus tariffs. I’ve never seen a shipping price that high!
oof... that's real terrible about the t-bone. RIP to passender and truck. Sick color and build so far! I didn't realize how much I like the Sport's hood until just now :sunglasses: ... the contours look epic in that color.
@Suzay Thanks for the order! I've had no issues with the continuous mode but I do drive more than average -13.5k mi since getting the 4G taco in April. The low voltage cut-out will save you either way :)
@Jakedawgy if you're feeling spendy over the holidays it doesn't hurt to upgrade dashcams to something with front + rear + interior! I'm about to stock some N2X and N4pro Vantrues in the next week or two... feel free to reach out!
@ramble22 yes that's right. The 4G Tacoma Limited can use both the 10p and 5p harnesses included in the Dongar box. I would suggest using one of them for the dashcam and then repurposing the other to splice in your radar. This will give you more overhead to the fuse rating because they are on...
@timetoeatpotatoes Yeah. So we don't have a Uniden on hand (we use to sell Radenso though) but we had a user test an RJ11 radar using this cable. It worked fine. The Bronco guys like this solution from Stickerfab, who also sells some of our stuff. Problem is that the cables are really long...
With our Vantrue N5 I tucked the rear wire right under the headliner (see pic)
Then at the A-pillar I crammed into the gap between between the plastic and headliner, without removing the A-pillar cover.
At the top of the door there's rubber weather stripping I super easily tucked into, to the...
