  1. 2024 SR5 less than 1k miles issues

Yes. Iā€™ve never understood that. It drives me crazy that everything lights up when itā€™s something like an O2 sensor or some random misfire. Do all those systems actually go down?
  2. Things that should be standard no-brainer things Toyota didn't do for all Trim levels

My point was more that you cannot lock or unlock the vehicle from the tailgate area in models without power tailgates. I have an SR5 but I'm assuming most models do not come with "Button 2" in the pic above. And so what I'm saying is regardless of if you have a power tailgate or not you should...
  3. What oil to get for our truck?

Yet another oil thread. Use the Toyota OEM oil. You can usually get it from the parts counter for ~$5.50 a quart (ask for their best price!). It is NOT Mobil 1 and has much higher levels of Moly & Boron. See this post. The Amsoil Moly is 225 and the Boron is 356ppm. The TGMO has 755ppm of Moly...
  4. 4th Gen Tacoma Quick Reference Guide Thread! šŸ“’

What did you have to trim? There are some pics in this thread but if you look around there are 3-4 mudflap posts on here some of which have pics.
  5. Video: Why the peasantry HATE the 2024 Tacoma 4th gen

Just my opinion - I would venture that over 90% of those bitching about the 4G have never even driven one. They talk a lot about the "failing transmissions" when we know that there are only ~1000 identified as potentially at risk and probably way less than that that actually develop a problem -...
  6. 4th Gen Tacoma Quick Reference Guide Thread! šŸ“’

While I'm thinking about it, there are tons of posts about the OEM mud flaps for these trucks. Typical stock flaps in the US (when installed) are $60 on the window sticker and really don't provide a lot of coverage. See this post. In summarizing all the posts it looks like Toyota has at least...
  7. 4th Gen Tacoma Quick Reference Guide Thread! šŸ“’

I think a good link under "What size tire fits" would be this one. It's a great site that shows actual pics of the 2024 and 2025's with actual wheel and tire sets so you can see what your truck might look like. It looks like users are adding pics frequently and it was (for me) a great way to...
  8. Things that should be standard no-brainer things Toyota didn't do for all Trim levels

Clarification on the locking gas cap thing. I really mean the gas cap cover/flap. Someone mentioned that these days they're made anti-siphon so that's cool. I'm not worried about getting my gas stolen, but on a few occasions in going through an automatic car wash the rotating brushes have opened...
  9. Things that should be standard no-brainer things Toyota didn't do for all Trim levels

Hey @turbosix -- I've seen several people mention this or they wish there was a way to turn it off at least without having to pull the fuse. I'm genuinely curious as to why? I use it to hold my iphone and it seems to charge it up if the trip is long enough. I get if it doesn't work good for...
  10. Thoughts on the 2024 Tacoma after 17,000km

Curious about how @EastonTaco ā€˜s trip to FL went as well since it was a long haul trip.
  11. Thoughts on the 2024 Tacoma after 17,000km

How did it do on that long trip? Comfort, gas mileage, etc?
  12. Things that should be standard no-brainer things Toyota didn't do for all Trim levels

Iā€™m only getting around 5.49km/l or15.5 to 16.5MPG in Eco, stock tires, and 2H albeit mostly all city. I donā€™t drive too aggressively on the gas. When I fill up my ā€œmiles to emptyā€ has never been at or over 300mi. I think someone pointed this out, but for longer off Road trips this coming spring...
  13. Things that should be standard no-brainer things Toyota didn't do for all Trim levels

I def hear that, but I don't think these would cost a whole lot more at the manufacturing level than what they're currently providing. For example, from research it costs about $150 more for a power seat vs a manual one at the manufacturer level.
  14. Things that should be standard no-brainer things Toyota didn't do for all Trim levels

We all know about the difficulties in connecting to Android & CarPlay and things like that. But what are some omissions (at least in some trims) that Toyota could have done easily but chose not to? For me here are some things that are slightly annoying (on my SR5): 1) The passenger grab handle...
  15. First oil change at 840 miles with filter cut open (LOTS of debris!)

MI Extended contains 57ppm Moly vs 755ppm for the TGMO. Also Boron is 76ppm vs 204ppm. Here's the VOA
  16. Factory mud flaps should be replaced by dealer

I think youā€™re right. I didnā€™t consider that there might be three different mudflaps. Maybe there are even more? The first is the one that OP shows. Very narrow. The ones I posted are wider, but it looks like as wide as the normal flare, and then the ones you posted look like they are even wider...
  17. Factory mud flaps should be replaced by dealer

PK389-35R00-P1 is the part number for the set of 4
  18. First oil change at 840 miles with filter cut open (LOTS of debris!)

That's the change schedule I plan to follow. Changes every 4000-5000 miles, at least until we get a bit more history with this engine. Every 10K may be fine but like I said, oil is cheap. Engines are not.
