Update: Got my 285/70/17 (SL) Nitto Terra Grappler G3s. I've only driven them a bit so far but they feel great. The truck doesn't feel much different so I'm thinking the gas mileage won't be affected too much. We'll see how that goes. For now, I'm really liking them. I have an off-road get...
I haven't' seen anyone do that for 285s. Not sure if that's necessary, but I didn't notice much of a difference just driving them back from the tire shop.
I just upgraded my truck to a bigger tire so I'm looking to sell the OEM tires that came with the truck. I'm located in El Paso, TX and posting them for $550 OBO. I've added the receipt with my username and date on the new tire install to verify the mileage on the original tires. They still have...
Decided to pull the trigger on my 285/70/r17 tire upgrade. Ended up going with the Nitto Terra Grappler G3s and I'm happy to report they fit great! I'm headed out to the trails on 3/1 so I'll confirm that there's no rub but from I can tell there's plenty of room.
Here are some before and after...
The 3rd gen Tacomas had a cool maintenance reminder app for things like oil changes, air filters, tire rotation, etc. What is everyone using to keep track of things on their 4th gens. If there's an app that's handy I'd love to hear about it!
Not sure what is better but most Youtubers I've seen that are doing overlanding are normally on OnX for trails. Alltrails is more of a hiking app. I've never heard of Trails Offroad. GAIA is another one I've seen but yea, OnX seems to be the one that's used the most right now.
What are your thoughts on Broken Arrow with a mostly stock Tacoma. I've seen videos and the Devil's staircase looks a bit rough for someone running on stock tires and suspension. I might be going with 285/70/r17 at some point but other than that, not a lot of lift. I saw you said that the tacoma...
I'm running 30 psi for the most part. 23 seems reasonable for the air down to me. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm thinking of eventually going with the Nitto Terra Grapplers in 285/70/r17 mainly because they have a standard load (SL) version instead of going with a C load tire because of...
I've taken my taco off-roading a few times and I usually air down to about 23-25 PSI. I'm running stock tires and wheels. I'm curious to find out what other people are airing down to when they take their trucks off the beaten path. Trying to figure out what is safe for my adventures!
Yeah I'm mostly on the road but I do go off-road for fun every now and then so I'd like something that's capable when I do decide to go out there. I've taken the stock tires out and they perform great. I really like the truck a ton!
OP, great post. I've been on the fence about 285/70/r17 on my stock setup. I know you can't guarantee fitment but it helps getting at least some confirmation there won't need to be any modifications needed!
I had a couple bolts missing, I think it was the longest one that was needed. Cali Raised sent it out real quick once I informed them. Seems like their packaging is inconsistent but they do make it right pretty quickly in my experience.
For what it's worth there's an option in the settings to set the desired tire pressure. When I go off-roading, I set it to 20 so that I'm not constantly getting those low pressure warnings. Similarly, you can set it to 30 once you have your tires set at 30 psi.
Has anyone gotten any feedback from Toyota or your dealerships from this? I've gotten as far as Toyota telling me to talk to the dealership and the dealership telling me that it's a Toyota issue. Anyone have any ideas how we can get this escalated and actually fixed. My understanding is that...
Am I the only one that thinks these molle panels are WAY overpriced lol?! I keep seeing these prices and I'm like man, it's just cut out metal. That being said, I get it. They are very useful for a lot of uses. I guess it just is what it is.
First of all, WOW. This is great info. I'm a software developer so I really appreciate when stuff like this gets put out. I looked up mine and wasn't able to find it either. Just out of curiosity for the people that can't find theirs, are they they premium package? Mine is. I got mine at Right...
