  1. One Year old Tacoma- Anyone paying $15 for remote features in the app?

Yes, through 2023 they offered stand alone remote connect at $8/mo or $80/yr. For 2024+ it's only in a $15/mo bundle with no annual discount. That's what's so annoying - they already had a complete ordering & fulfillment system so they could easily offer it again if they so chose. There may...
  2. One Year old Tacoma- Anyone paying $15 for remote features in the app?

Tacoma owners manual mentions holding unlock to roll down windows, but it might need to be enabled by dealer (which means Carista might be able to enable it if it's not working). Yes, BMW tried the heated seats subscription but discontinued due to backlash. I'd imagine we'll see continued...
  3. One Year old Tacoma- Anyone paying $15 for remote features in the app?

Don't announce your arrival as if it burdensome for you to join the conversation and then accuse others of being on a high horse. Rather hypocritical. My first mention of downloadable maps was meant to be helpful, solve the problem for future. Not sure what perspective you think I don't...
  4. One Year old Tacoma- Anyone paying $15 for remote features in the app?

and so does your Tacoma…. did you not know that?
  5. One Year old Tacoma- Anyone paying $15 for remote features in the app?

Your 2012 Ram had factory remote start over cellular from a phone app? You sure about that? Nav is immaterial since CarPlay and android auto provide that, just download maps if you will be in poor service areas. Not sure what the other things you mention have to do with anything.
  6. One Year old Tacoma- Anyone paying $15 for remote features in the app?

For next time, download offline maps on your phone before you go. Since the GPS signals enabling your phone to know it's location are broadcast from the GPS satellites, you only need cell service to access map data. If you download that data in advance you're basically in the same situation...
  7. One Year old Tacoma- Anyone paying $15 for remote features in the app?

Your 4Runner has the nav built into the head unit, with maps on a microsd card and likely still has the eight year old data. The nav you had with your new Tacoma was over-the-air data and would pretty much always be up to date. I wouldn't mind so much if Toyota still offered Remote Connect...
  8. TRD off Road MPG

What does the label in the door frame recommend for tire pressure? Overinflated tires tend to provide less traction and wear unevenly, as well as increase risk of blowout if you hit potholes or road debris. I'd stick to a max of 10% above the pressure recommended by Toyota or tire manufacturer.
  9. Looking for a Best dash cam in 2025 – narrowed it down to 2, need opinions

For several years I've had a Thinkware in my Tacoma and Blackvue in my funcar. Timelapse parking mode with g-shock detection for realtime clip saving is helpful if you're concerned about something happening while you're parked. Make sure there's a battery voltage cutoff, ideally...
  10. My i-Force Max has an.... Alternator???

I believe it is TH and Pro only, and not sure if it's a chosen option or just comes with current builds of those trims.
  11. TRD off Road MPG

She's driving a heavy vehicle with the aerodynamics of a shipping container. My 3rd gen averages 18mpg, and that's more highway than city.
  12. My i-Force Max has an.... Alternator???

A couple cases may be something to do with the individual DC-DC converter rather than faulty battery, but largely I'm sensing the issue is more isolated than widespread. Doesn't make it suck any less for those affected, particularly those whose dealers shrug it off as "normal" and they don't...
  13. Absolute best tire for highway fuel mileage? Best answer to date is factory installed Michelin Primacy LTX

You'll also get the service techs overinflating the tires too. On my third gen I've generally stuck to door decal +1 or 2psi. I've had good tire life with even wear.
  14. Absolute best tire for highway fuel mileage? Best answer to date is factory installed Michelin Primacy LTX

Careful, setting (cold) tire pressure significantly higher than the door sticker recommendation can result in poorer traction/handling, uneven wear (shorter tire life), and slightly higher blowout risk if hitting a road hazard. I'd recommend staying within 10% of the suggested pressure...
  15. Tacoma "Trial Services" what do I lose?

Yes, maps from you phone via Android Auto or CarPlay will always work, and if going somewhere with sketchy cell service you can download selected maps to your phone ahead of time. GPS location isn’t cell service dependent.
  16. Tacoma "Trial Services" what do I lose?

Yes, I am pleased to see that Toyota is now providing that with the 4th gens. We have a garage door opener and home alarm system so I've not carried keys or a fob since doing the credit card key mod. I grab my wallet and phone and go. Unexpected plus - I can't forget my wallet. :) Tip -...
  17. Tacoma "Trial Services" what do I lose?

Yeah, for me $8/mo would be easy-peasy but the $15 bundle with shlt I don't need is a put-off. Especially when Ford provides similar service free on my wife's Bronco Sport for as long as she owns it. As an alternative, look into a combination of a Fortin ONE with Viper SmartStart. I have the...
  18. Tacoma "Trial Services" what do I lose?

Safety Connect and Service Connect are "up to ten year" trial periods. See the brochure for details of what each service provides. Pretty sure the wallet key card will continue to work fine, but you'll lose the app features and app remote start. Worth it? That's subjective. I have a third...
  19. 12v battery (hybrid) runs low after sitting for a week

Thanks, something in the charging system seems wonky If it’s sometimes applying 13.8v and other times not. Also seems like a lot of drawdown overnight - logout of the Toyota app to rule that out as a source. Given that some like yourself have an issue, and other people don’t, it suggests a...
