Mine just died after 9 months and 9k miles. Really pitiful! They take a less common CR2450 battery too, which I couldn't find in the grocery stores I checked while travelling.
The owners manual says the standard battery life is "1 to 2 years", it claims a low battery warning will appear on the...
That looks really nice built into your truck topper!
Here's a GIF of the camera overheating issue, gonna contact GG Offroad today, but posting it here if others see the same issue.
Here's how mine looks on the outside (using the stock external mount they provided, bolted onto the t-track, I...
Finally got to do some light off roading with our 2024 Tacoma TRD Off Road and Tune M1! The upgraded Alldogs Offroad front springs and Dobinsons 819V rear springs handled the additional ~1,000 lbs of the Tune, kitchen build out, and gear! If I’d change anything, it’d be slightly stiffer rear...
Anyone having overheating issues with their redirected external rear view mirror camera? Mine is mounted on the back of my Tune, and when it’s sunny and hot (70+ degrees F), the mirror will flash black for a half second every few minutes. When it’s cooler out, zero issues (like all this winter...
The Dobinsons front springs (C59-820) claim a 2” lift while the Alldogs claim only 1.5”. The only 1.5” lift I could find was the Alldogs.
I wanted exactly 1.5” since that would bring me right back to the stock rake (both rear and front ended up 1” above stock, the Dobinson would probably make...
Here’s my review of Alldogs springs in the front: https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/threads/alldogs-offroad-front-springs-installed.10910/
Short summary: perfect for me! Exactly what I wanted! Read my post for all the details.
I’ve got the 819’s, I was worried the 821’s would lift it too high. What’s your center-of-wheel to bottom-of-fender measurement with your 821’s and 1000 lbs of weight? Mine is 24.25” with 930 lbs of weight, and that’s the tallest I ideally want it to be.
FYI for those looking for a slight front suspension lift to compensate for our heavy truck campers, the Alldogs springs worked really well for me! Lifted it 1.5", so now I'm sitting 1" taller than stock in the front (since my weight brings it down a little bit). Here's my thread with all the...
I used a rental DIY compressor from O'reilly auto parts (free, 48hr return period). This video explains the one I used, it worked fine with both these springs (the safety latch didn't fit over the newer springs but otherwise worked fine, I had to compress the first one three separate times since...
I just installed the "~1.5" taller" TOY-F-M-4GT front coil springs from Alldogs: https://www.alldogsoffroad.com/alldogs-offroad-toy-f-m-4gt-front-lift-coil-springs-for-4th-gen-toyota-tacoma
My goal was to lift and stiffen the front to handle the additional 930 lbs of permanent weight my 2024...
Has anyone else verified alignment specs for the 2024 Tacoma? Firestone didn't have factory alignment specs for the 2024 as of today. Olaf's picture above seems to be the only official alignment spec I've seen online, would be good to know if anyone else has gotten an official alignment from Tacoma?
Here’s a photo of rear left 819 spring with probably 930-950 lbs (still had some water in the back).
I wanted to try lifting the tire to the max but wasn’t sure the best way to do that. I have a floor jack but don’t have any ramps or anything, maybe sometime I could find a rock to back up onto.
I'm still really pleased with the 819's. I added Tacoyaki's info to my comparison table, I also updated that my weight was actually 900-930 lbs (finally got to a CAT scale after doing my interior build, previously I was estimating 850 lbs but I underestimated my interior).
The 819's have felt...
Wow dang! How fast ya going on the highway? My trips are usually 65 and 75 mph and less, with the average being maybe 68 (speeds in Washington and Oregon are pretty slow)
EDIT: According to WKTJR1 the hybrids actually do have bigger brakes, so I updated my table and that would probably explain the increased payload. The parts websites said they were the same but I think the parts websites still just aren't accurate for these new vehicles!
So I've noticed...
I’ve got a video and more of the interior build here! https://tacotunesday.com/
For the CAT scales, yeah you install the Weigh My Truck app, then you just drive up onto the scale and open the app, and you pay the $15 inside the app, and you get the results right there. They have a YouTube video...
We were on a camping trip and I weighed our 2024 TRD Off Road 5’ bed truck in at 6,300 lbs with a full tank of gas, two people in the car, our Tune M1 camper with full kitchen build, skis, snow chains, rock climbing gear, and 7 gallons of water. This is 60 lbs over the GVWR of 6,240 lbs for this...
