Well said and this makes sense to me. I guess comparing what Iām used to in my old Chev doesnāt work here as a n/a V8 vs a turbo 4.
I need to rejig in my head what 4L is for and when to use.
An external trans cooler would have been nice though.
A couple observations. Iāve climbed mountains in a ā98 Chevy and never had to shift to 4L. Long slow drive up switchbacks.
I feel this is a Toyota issue and it hasnāt been addressed because itās Toyota, itās not mainstream of an issue enough for them to bother. To me, 4L isnāt meant for...
In Canada the SR5 is the lowest model. Pretty much has all you need. Upgrades to Sport or Off-road and then the premium trims quickly gets out of control pricewise. Itās the best value for for a pretty well equipped Tacoma.
I agree the SR5 is the best value on the Tacoma. As for the Ioniq, in my world no one buys Hyundai or Kia as they have a very bad reputation and most consider them disposable junk cars.
I have an Off Road and yeah that splash guard was a joke for an off road truck, š¤£. It was promptly...
I find this is why Iām more about getting lower models. The over charging for āluxuriesā is not worth the value you get. This goes for most all makes.
Overall Iām happy with my first Toyota, but I gotta say: I missed out on the legendary quality we heard about on 90ās and early 2000ās...
All true and well stated. To this Iād add that rear brake pads are usually smaller than front ones and have less material to wear through - with the added demands on them they are being used up while fronts are still good.
@Tacohunter all normal, my rear brakes were at 65% and front at 90%...
Love it. Thatās the colour I really wanted but itās only available on the Sport Premium in Canada and I prefer the OR trim. The lowest trim they sell here is the 4x4 SR5 double cab.
I was very weary of cheap Amazon made in China junk. I just got the TRD Pro one for my Off Road. It was expensive, and I will keep it if I update my Tacoma next year. After taxes it was $690 Cdn or $500 US.
I have a service appointment Monday, I hope I donāt get talked into trading my TRD OR in for a new SR5+ š¤£. Why? The SR5+ has a few benefits I like:
Trailer brake controller
All black seats (not big fan of the gray 2 tone)
Heated steering wheel.
Upgraded 10 speaker sound system
But I lose the...
Yes, this is why I try to buy a truck with minimal electronic doo-dads, but it is getting harder. In my career Iāve driven a lot in mountainous highways and during winter. Thankfully I did it in pre 2013 trucks. By the time I got my newest truck, my 2024 Tacoma my road trip days are largely...
I agree with both you guys. Mopar had been slowly losing me since the sellout for personal gain by Bob Eaton of Chrysler to Daimler.
I did buy a Challenger in 2009 and a new Ram 1500 in 2012. They were comfortable and caused me minimal issues when I had them (though the Ram was gone after 2.5...
Dang I wish someone would give me a project car that clean. Well done. Iām thinking of trading in my 2024 TRD Off Road for a 2026 SR5+ just for the trailer brakes controller.
So says the Mopar guy. Hemi engines in particular are known not to circulate oil very well at idle, let alone cold idle.
But in the end itās just advice on a forum. To each do their own research and treat their truck how they think best.
Most did research before they chose a 4th gen...
Anyone subscribing for the remote start option, I am guessing are not long term owners.
Starting and idling a modern vehicle to warm it up is damaging to the engine. Better to start it and then drive it easy, not under heavy load for a few minutes. The truck will warm up quicker and not sit...
Very likely could have been a typo or mistake on paperwork as they use that viscosity as well on Toyotas. So all good.
if it was a mistake, I do not think 0-16 will affect it at all, especially if you are in a colder place in fall /winter. These oils are so thin anyways now. So all good.
