One other item, on the interior plastics. A plastic end piece that covers the end of a seat brace under the driver’s seat appeared on my floor randomly broken off.
And the end cover of the seat rail on the drivers side has multiple times gone flying off if my shoe hits it very lightly...
I’ve owned my Tacoma since 08-24-24 and logged 19,160 km or 11,905 miles on it. It is my first Toyota product. Here is my honest review and over all rating out of 10.
Pros:
Drivetrain has been great. The engine delivers good power and the transmission does not lag. It has climbed mountain...
I don’t think the bed stiffeners have anything to do with it. It is something with the left taillight as mine sticks out a bit since new. The right side sits flush.
I’ve asked the dealer and they said they couldn’t get it to sit flush and would have to send it to their body shop. I have not...
The thing about Carfax is that it is rigid and very prone to false data entry. I have seen too many instances of a car being locked into having higher mileage on carfax because an inattentive mechanic entered an extra digit.
I just discovered this today and searched out this thread. I even put my key 50’ away inside a microwave and it did it. Sometimes you need to hold the button a second or two but the radio does indeed come on.
I too like the before look better. Black rims are so overdone these days, some manufacturers are actually starting to move away from them.
For the lugs, the early builds came with black lugs if I recall. I remember getting mine in August and seeing it with chrome ones for the first time.
Thank you for the update sir. First of all, if any of those mods even were responsible, Toyota would have a very weak and vulnerable truck. I’ve driven much more “modded” 4x4’s with no issue, - supposedly from a brand Toyota looks down on; GM/Chev.
So to the dealer, that’s a bullsh*t cop-out...
This seems totally the type of issue that engineers are supposed find out in testing. And find a solution prior to releasing it to the public. Maybe these trucks weren’t tested as rigorously as they boasted at the introduction last year?
The last time I was off road in 4wd on a long climb was...
Good write up and mostly agree. I’m about to post a thread on mine soon, it’s currently at 17,500 km and 10 months of ownership. I will say it took the 4th gen to get me in a Tacoma, I’d kept away after sitting in 2nd gen in 2006. The 3rd gen - or 2.5 as I call it - was a huge...
Mine works and I’ve had no issues with it not, the times I’ve used it. I will say it’s not the best A/C I’ve seen. My 2021 VW Gti blasts ice cold air instantly and puts it to shame.
I’ve had other VW’s and the A/C was better than my Tacoma.
I will reserve most comments for my 1 year (about) review thread, this is my first Toyota and there’re things I like about it and things I’m not liking so much.
No one should be having this issue with the described off road climbs though. Especially in an Off Road. I’ve climbed logging...
Hmm, I’ve had zero issues with mine but I have not been in 4Hi going uphill. This is disconcerting if I need to be off road. I never had an issue with my old Chevys off road and I have climbed logging roads up mountains.
I would expect a TRD Off Road to be able to handle these situations as...
I bit the bullet and it still stings. Here in Canada I paid CDN $690 with taxes in for the TRD skid plate for my OR. I guess that’s about US $492.
But it was required, as that soft plastic thingy had to go. Done now and it’s been protecting my truck now for 6 months.
