Thanks. Squamish Toyota. They've been really good other than telling me that the Icon plate may invalidate my warranty. I don't think another dealer would be helpful and living in a small town it's not really realistic anyway. Regardless, I think the icon plate may stop a catastrophic failure...
2024 Tacoma OR Premium IForce Max - After destroying my passenger side top hat in a pothole at 6000km, the part was replaced under warranty after 10 weeks without my vehicle. When I picked up the truck up I was saddened to hear that the top hat was replaced with the same part that had just...
So I think I've found a solution by using manual mode and running a lower gear and pushing the RPMs a bit higher. Tried it several times now and running most long climbs in 2nd when auto would out me in 3rd and tranny hasn't overheated yet. The same climbs would push my tranny temp up every time...
The 14" screen is so useful for navigating FSRs and finding trails or trailheads using Gaia. I'm sure it'd work with any mapping program that can run on Android Auto. It's also great for using the side / underside cameras when you don't have a spotter.
Dunno. Hope that's true! Switching to manual shift, I could see that the transmission was staying in 3rd gear even on steep sections of road in 4 HIGH. Switching to manual and dropping to 1st or 2nd gear depending on grade and RPM fixes the problem. I could do the same climbs at the same speed...
Of course it has a transmission cooler. I've never owned a truck without one. But it needs an upgrade if you're going to be doing long, steep, low-speed climbs.. Only one aftermarket product I can find so far but have a local 4x4 shop trying to source something for me. Will post when its installed.
2024 OR Premium Hybrid - Anybody else having problems with their transmission overheating specifically on long offroad climbs? And if so, what have you done to fix it? Transmission temperature is normal and shifts normally on mountain highways but the truck overheats on long off-road climbs -...
Hopefully you're not in canada. I just got mine back 2 days ago after over 2 months sitting at the dealer waiting for the part to come in. And to make it worse, I was driving up a forest service road with an empty truck today and my transmission overheated.. Back to the shop it will go. This...
Almost 8 weeks since my top hat broke and truck is still at the dealer with no ETA for new parts. Parts manager says he suspects Toyota is working on a fix instead of replacing the part with another I'll probabably destroy again but he doesn't really know. If so, could be many more months? BUT...
Been 5 weeks now and no info yet on part availability. Toyota Canada has now got me into a Ram so I still have a truck. The real problem is that I'll be getting the same top hat that just broke. This truck is not a pavement princess and I fear I'll be back in the dealer shortly with the other...
Placed an order for shock top hat 1 month ago. Still hasn't shipped. Website said was in stock. Have asked for delivery now or money back. Will see what happens.
Doesn't seem that uncommon. Lots on 4gtacoma site. When I get my truck from the dealer, I wont take my truck offroad without the icon or similar upgrade. And they're cheap. Don't know yet how much it will help but it'll be better than nothing. Have ordered a set from yotagarage but not shipped yet.
I think that's likely true. I also think the vast majority of people are ot offroading in the trucks
How do we know its uncommon? Most people with the problem probably don't post on forums. And most people who own the trucks seldom or never drive offroad or even on FSRs. I bought this truck...
After 6000km in a 2024 Off Road Premium I understand the hate. Too much emphasis on wow and not enough on reliability. Too many design and manufacturing flaws. Initial transmission problems. Brake line problems (stop sell order yesterday on 100,000 + units). Shock top hats made from pot metal...
