One of the reasons I pulled the OEM flaps off my Trailhunter was because of the potential for body wear. I installed Ark flaps instead and I'm quite happy with them. They do not contact the body at all.
32spoke, you're 100% correct. I had not come across the oil specifications for markets outside North America, and it makes complete sense. CAFE standards don't apply outside NA (I'm not even sure they really apply in Canada, but our market is so small compared to the US, we just get lumped in I...
I apologize in advance, but being Canadian, and a science guy, I use Celsius, so if you wouldn't mind doing the conversion on your own, I'd appreciate it! :)
It's not quite as simple as reaching a given temp for the boiling point of gasoline and then all the fuel in the oil evaporates...
Tim, you're 100% correct. fuel dilution will be high until the rings seat properly. with only 0.6% fuel in oil after 2700 miles I think you will probably be just fine going forward unless your driving habits or environment change. That can also influence the results.
What did you change in your...
There's lots to unpack here. I'll chime in on what I can help with.
It's expected that your oil will be thin, have fuel contamination, and metallic content during the first say 1600km (1000m). I'm not surprised at all. This is when most of the wear your engine will ever see occurs. During the...
That's definitely part of the issue, but oddly enough, my research indicates that idling does more harm. So shutting off the auto start/stop on your hybrid (for example by engaging Tow/Haul mode) and idling more, probably doesn't help. I say probably because I'm not completely done my research...
Folks,
I drive a 2024 Trailhunter with the iForce-MAX hybrid engine. My plan was always to do used oil analysis (UOA) at least during the warranty period and to verify that the engine was broken in (by observing the decline of wear metals in the oil samples).
My first oil change was at 1,700...
What's complicated about using data to inform your decisions? And I even provided a simple approach - change your oil and filter every 5000m (8000km) at a minimum. I can't think of a way to make it more simple.
The only way to accurately determine if your oil is exhausted is through used oil analysis (UOA). Do some research and learn how to read a UOA report. You can use a vacuum pump to take a small sample at any interval you choose.
Given that the 2.4L iForce is both gasoline direct injection AND...
There hasn’t been so much as a drop of rain since I installed them. And no time for hunting yet either. As soon as I can get some dirt under my tires I will report back.
I agree with your logic. I can't say the Canadian flaps "don't work" but I don't think they're quite as good at keeping the rock chips down as the Arks will be. I'll find out soon I suppose.
I just finished installing the Ark mudflaps on my 2024 Trailhunter. Ark now has a part number specific to the Trailhunter and Pro with their wider fender flares.
I replaced my OEM Canadian mudguards for the Ark product primarily to improve coverage and protection from gravel and rocks hitting...
Over the weekend I installed the Ark mudflats specifically designed for the Trailhunter (and TRD-Pro) and the wider fender flares. I like the look of my original Canadian factory mudguards, and the Ark guards are definitely a different look. I’d say I like them about the same. The catch is that...
