We are going back in December, hopefully it
We have a trip planned for this winter. Hopefully it does not snow! It's a great place to off road, way better than our Central texas options.
We had a great time at Merus! I got to use 4lo, SDM, skid plate, axle dump tail pipe, the camera and had a great time doing it!
We got very lucky and we were the only truck signed up for the Green tour and the guide and his wife were still willing to take us out. Normally they require three...
When are you going? I'm going in November and then again in February. What's on your agenda? In November I'll spend most of my time in the state park and in February will be mostly national park. Nothing like the fiirst trip to BBNP! I think you'll love it!
We booked the tour in February, drove 500 miles to Canyon on the second of April and on the third we get a phone call. The caller said, "We don't have a guide from your tour so the tour is cancelled" Thirty six hours notice, not much notice considering the distance involved.
No apology, no...
It's a free, flat, safe, and easy place to click the truck into 4 h, 4 l and check the difference in the turning radius, lock the rear diff and or try out the crawl control. Just become more familiar with the truck. Besides Lake Buchanan is beautiful and a great place too spend some time
A couple of us are meeting Saturday 3/1 /2025 at LLano County Park on Lake Buchanan at nine AM. We will do what the locals do. They drive their trucks , slow and easy out onto the lake bed. Basically have a safe easy place to check out the various features of our trucks. Anyone else interested...
Other roads to consider when you are out there, OLD ORE road. 26 mile dirt road, tons of fun, Black Gap road , a Jeep Badge of Honor trail , drive out to Mariscal Mine, easy drive cool place to explore, Las Burras loop in the state park

No pictures of the trail. My son's truck has BFG KO2s and I went with TOYO Open Country AT3s. You want a good AT tire when driving the West Texas dirt roads
This was the first road trip in my 2024 Tacoma TRD OR hybrid.I went from Austin to Big Bend, around 500 miles one way. The first 150 miles are on secondary roads with speed limits of 60 to 75 mph. The truck was a ton of fun to drive through the rolling Texas Hill Country. The next 200 or so...
