Mine absolutely does this. It’s strange feeling, but I do believe it’s normal. Tow haul mode completely does away with it so it has to be electronic and not mechanical it seems to me. It does make it feel sloppy.

It may very well be new to the tacoma. I can't remember specifically if my 2nd gen had one. Pretty sure the f-150 had one, but more subtle. It just lights the cupholders a tad. Probably not necessary when there is a 14" display lighting up the night. lol

Every modern Toyota I’ve owned has had this type of light I believe. That said a little piece of tape will get rid of it if it bothers you.

I found a locking one at Tractor supply. They had multiple brands in the long length on the shelf.

Mine does this for sure. I have asked this same question elsewhere. Drives me crazy if I am sitting still somewhere. I can't notice if it does it while driving.
