Yeah, I decided that too. Wireless I just easier but I still think what Toyota is doing is just wrong. And, now I bought the Curt and hate it and donāt think I can return it and get a Tekonsha wireless. Maybe when I save up more money. I hate this Bluetooth stuff. Always a slight delay in...
Nice!!! Yeah, you shouldnāt have any problems and it sounds like youāve done your research. And, I assume you have the TBC. The only thing weāve noticed is some āporpoisingā when on roads that have seams, or onto bridges. Thinking about sumo springs?? Other than that the truck tows perfectly...
Iāve been towing cameras for 20 years. The dry weight may be off by a bit but my tow capacity is 6400#, not 3500#. āDetunedā, engine as you refer it it, has nothing to do with it. Toyota advertises many of these trims capable of towing 6400# and NO WHERE have I found that a stipulation that they...
What about a dealer helping with this info. I did my homework, btw and I find your snarky comments demeaning. Can you name even one source that stated that I shouldnāt tow a 19ft camper with a dry weight of 2900lbs with the SR? Iām not talking about exceeding what the truck is capable of...
Here are my points:
Toyota sells a truck with a 6400# tow capacity but doesnāt recommend using a 3rd party controller nor will Toyota install an OEM one aftermarket. False advertising.
I have a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 thatās worked beautifully in 2 other vehicles but I canāt install it on this...
Sorry. Youāre misinformed. According to my Model Code number found on the inside of the drivers side door my truck is rated to tow 6400#. See attached photo. Iām not sure why youāre arguing with me. I bought a curt echo and thereās no way to hard wire the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 I have. End of story.
Yes. My manual verifies my truck can tow 6400# and has a tow package. So
What? Stillā¦no brake controller so what good is 6400# tow capacity? I donāt plan on boating any time soon.
Wiring is not behind the panel. Spent 2 hours at Texas Trailers this morning with them hunting everywhere for the wiring. They finally found the blue brake controller wire (goes to the 7 way) dead ended at the fuses. Everything would have to be rewired which would probably void our warranty.
I had exactly the same experience. I asked all of the questions and it was never a problem. Even today the dealership couldnāt understand what the problem was! I also have a MT so not sure if that factors in.
