I have Tufskinz on a hybrid off road. The plastic is a little stiffer than I was expecting but not bad.

Yakima has slotted rails that can be attached to the top of the bedside.

I have looked at using them for a ski rack above a bed cover.
From there, there are a few ways to attach hooks to those rails.
