quick update - i checked the B pillar molding between the doors on the exterior as i still heard what could be a gap around the back of the drivers door - my OCD had to play with it.
that molding comes off easy enough and the internal cavity is huge - very weak strip of rubber. I was able to...
from the sound and seal perspective:
hood insulation pad on all trims
acoustic glass on all trims
door weather seals on all trims thick enough to actually seal
roof molding instead of those plastic bits and leaves a giant wind channel
this is what i used - need 30' of it

TACO Metals Taco Marine V30-0109B10-1 Weather Seal Tape - 3/8" x 5/8" x 10', Black
leaks is an interesting topic as i did pull back the carpet where the JBL Amp is and the Amp showed a...
i heard an interesting perspective on that - since they use the same model for numerous vehicles the body, moldings, etc are all just generic rough cuts. tundra's having same complaint. i am sure 4runner gonna follow suit.
i'm planning to get a case logged at 5k maint visit. i also want to...
i like mine as well -Power train is great, rides great. i just need it a bit more sealed as i have to drive 2 hours to things i do in the woods and its almost all HWY.
i have noticed - overall feel is way less than GEN3. windows and door seals are what i'm chasing currently. wind noise and dust getting in is more than i like. gaps in window seals. I'm still leaning towards the Roof rail channels missing molding as a contributor to the wind sheer.
here's the inner doorseals i added - i used the Taco Marine D shaped. this is the same you'll see in other posts as it is very good. this inner seal follows the channel all the way around.
helps with road noise and also i've noticed a its keeping more dust out.
here's a picture of my rear window - TRD Offroad non premium, top back corner. Gaps at top on both sides. Seals fine as you move down the window. can others check for gaps? anyone with a Premium trim can check? Front doors are good.
asking as i've been chasing wind noise for a bit - the...
got it off - unsure if right or wrong
gently slid a small flathead into that slot from the back to catch that white latch and then gently pressed it down - it slide right off
thanks thats what i am finding - Dealership near the house so i checked other trims and they all had the plastic bars. Ordered the Taco marine strips today so i will see how that does.
has anyone tested adding molding to the roof rail channels or checked if Toyota is selling? I've been testing as the wind noise over 65 is annoying - the 2024 gets a plastic piece that isn't sealed now. i've found that a small piece of tape on the front of the plastic piece may have made a...
rubbed with hiking boots for sure - toyota went all out on the "Tester parts" for the 1st year - see how cheap they can go before the complaints grow too loud
