Yes, you are unclear of the low range concept. The whole point of low range is to go slow. Personally, I don't think low range is low enough on my Tacoma. But then, my 4Runner has dual transfercases with a low range ratio of 4.56:1 (2.28x2.28), compared to the Tacoma 2.57:1.

I added a second panel to my camper, and upgraded my controller from a 30A PWM to a 40A MPPT. Right now the panels (190W each) are wired parallel. As soon as I get the cable, I will wire them in series.
I'm going to toss out there what I did. I installed a rear tire/gas carrier which blocked the camera on my tailgate. I have a TRD-OR, with just the tailgate camera. I bought a harness and camera from Toyota, and located the new camera to the license plate area on the bumper. I did loose the...
A few comments. First, I love mine, but only use it in camp. I've seen several mounts for mounting to a roof rack, but haven't found the need.
I have a WeBoost on my 4Runner and use it often. It works acceptably, but you need to have a signal to boost.
I've noticed a conflict between the...
In southern BC dispersed camping was very easy, most of the time. In Yukon it was OK, depending on where you were. Dispersed camping along the Dempster is easy up to the YT/NWT border. North of there dispersed was more difficult.
I used the ioverlander.com app for lots of the places I stayed...
One other thing I will add. Paying for stuff. I went up there with a ton of CN cash. I also have a travel credit card that doesn't charge fees on foreign transactions. I wish I had far less cash. The exchange rate on the CC was very good, vs purchasing paper at my bank. About the only time I...
I just answered the fuel question. I will add when you get into remote places in Yukon and NWT, you are fueling from "card lock" stations. They are unattended (mostly) places that are nothing more than a giant tank of fuel with a credit card reader in a shack. I think I had more issues with fuel...
Fuel range sucks on this Tacoma. I have 30 gallons onboard with my 4Runner. I never have gas anxiety with that truck. Three times on this trip fuel was an issue.
Just the numbers.
Truck: 2025 TRD-OR/6MT with Dirtbox Overland canopy-camper, 285/70-17 tires. Some lift, no idea how much. Other stuff.
Left home July 26th
Came home Sept 16th
Days: 53
Nights camping: 50
Total miles: 13,179
Combined MPG: 17.3. No idea how. I thought it would have been closer...
Suggestion. Get the Loves app. You can save 10 cents/gallon at the pump.
Also get the Pilot/Flying J app. I don't remember if they discount at the pump or not. I just did a 13K mile trip to Canada and Alaska. Loves truck stops were my friend and I would always seek them out.
Third option...
