Don't you have the Limited? Couldn't you have pushed the button in the tail light to lower it? It does seem odd that it would not unlock or open with the keys in the bed that close to the tailgate.

LOL! I thought about wrapping it in a fabric of some sort, but figured the tolerances on the sides might to too tight. If I paint it, it will be with Krylon or some other brand that is made for and safe for painting plastics. If it ruins it, I can always buy another one!!! I now know the guy...
