I have same. Feels like the left-rear tire is about 2' behind my head. I'll either install dynamat or, since I have to pull a chunk of the platform, may just put the seats back in. An expensive hit.
Actually, they did have use a '24 Trailhunter as dev platform. Independence Overland let them use his. So the 'didn't have a hybrid available' observation is incorrect.
We received ours mid-Summer '25. I ran into all the same issues the OP posted. Provided my own detailed feedback. They...
My wife and I have been long-time fans of Goose Gear. We were among their early customers, installing a full-rear kit that included seat deletes and a rear platform with side cubbies in our Wrangler.
After years of use—across more than 50 camping and overland trips—plus years of day-to-day...
I've continued to find the topic of mileage pretty interesting and finally got around to looking into the EPA’s test regimen. I asked ChatGPT about it—here’s what it returned:
It’s definitely thought-provoking. I have to say, some of the figures are unintentionally hilarious: a “city” test with...
Slightly off topic, but since you introduced it: Your comment seems a bit strongly worded. There are a lot of folks, including myself, with stock vehicles that have never gotten even close to the EPA rating. Let alone exceeding it by 12.5% as you indicate you're getting.
When test driving non/hybrid versions, I definitely noticed the non-hybrid sounded like a cacophony of loose parts. The hybrid, same engine, seemed much better. The only conclusion I could come to was the non-hybrids (that I drove) did not have hood insulation dampening the sound.
Not sure if...
It's a nice feel-good article for those of us already owning the engine. Born to V8s, learning to enjoy V6s, I was mildly unenthused by a '4'. However, after multiple test drives, with/without hybrid, across Landcruiser, 4Runner, and 3 different Tacomas, I came to accept it w/o issue. I'll...
Makes me think of Stitch, our Wrangler, fully kitted out for a multi-week overland trip. Stock, about 4,400 lbs. Full build, 5,400. Loaded (me, wife, dog, camp gear, etc.) 6400 lbs. After 3 weeks like that, I get home, unload, and it feels like sport jeep for a day or two :).
Interesting question. Out of the gate I'm thinking chase rack (whatever that thing is back there), 2" taller, larger wheels/tires, compressor,...got me curious enough to go digging.
Looking at Toyota’s specs page, your 2024 TRD Off-Road 8AT shows a curb weight of 4,630 lb, while the...
I appreciate it. We never really saw any notable change from new to 6,000 miles. We're fairly flat, just gentle rolling hills for the most part. Speeds tend to be 40-45 (wife's commute) or 75 when we're going somewhere. As to be expected, the farther past ~60-65 we go, the more dramatic the...
Put together a real-quick YT short this evening.
The factory floor mats in our 2025 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter were a disappointment — thin rubber, poor coverage, and a cut-out around the gas pedal that leaves the carpet exposed to mud, snow, and salt.
In this quick 2-minute video, I show how...
Truly awesome. Thanks for sharing.
It really does make one wonder, why there seem to be clearly two different camps (meet/exceed advertised MPG, those not even close).
Question: Those are fairly consistent, what's your average speed for most of those? Ballpark guess is fine.
I had been hoping to find something I wanted in, say, Wyoming. Wanted an excuse to fly-n-drive it home. Did that with my current motorcyle. Alas, using caredge.com, I found the 2nd oldest '25 TH in the nation at the time, 45 miles from me. That's Ok, I'll still do the Michigan-Wyoming drive...
That's what I did. Wasn't in a rush, told sales rep what I was after, when. "We don't have any Trailhunters expected..." Never did anything. I did a web search, found 3 within 100 miles of me, 1 configured the way I wanted.
