Agreed the computer is not accurate. Even after waiting until the range reads as “Refuel” (no remaining range) with the gas light on, my truck only takes around 16 gallons at the pump. My avg 20mpg should yield around 364 miles of range, not the 285 stated with a full tank.
Having a buffer...
The Zenith is not the front bumper shown here, this looks like the Summit MkII which is currently only available for the new 250 Land Cruisers.
Hopefully this means a Tacoma-specific model is coming, or the current model is compatible. Compatibility wouldn’t be surprising given the platform...
@marie_arb welcome! I’m a huge fan of ARB.
Per this post, is the new Summit front bumper compatible with 4g Tacoma? Your website says no, but the photo suggests otherwise. New model incoming?
I’ve been waiting for a Summit release, or to see someone attempt a retrofit with the older models.
It depends on your wheel/tire combo: typically a smaller wheel with a taller sidewall tire can safely air down more than a lower profile on a larger wheel.
I’m running 285/70r17’s on the stock TRD OR wheels and have gone down to 20 psi in rocky terrain without issue. Could probably go lower...
Thanks for posting Ryan! Didn’t know you were on here, I’m a big fan of the channel. Especially the Tacoma videos, as I’m running a similar spec minus the hybrid. Looking forward to see what you go with for suspension and any future mods
I don’t think this is a knock on 4th gens vs previous gens as much as it is a reflection of current market trends. I have no data to support but would be willing to bet that 2024+ non-special edition Tacomas have depreciated less than equivalent Rangers or Colorados over the same time period...
Looks great, glad you nailed the ride height first try! Mine have settled a bit after almost 2k miles in height, with no noticeable difference in ride quality. What I do notice is that I can hit bumps that used to produce a harsh thud on the stock OR shocks at any speed and the 5100’s eat it...
Check out some amateur editing of some bad filming of some beginner driving on a great trail.
This was my first time running Fins N’ Things, the truck handled it great! It was a foggy day, and we were out early enough to see only 2 other vehicles.
OnX rates the trail a 4/10, some obstacles...
Unfortunately even if they settle a 1/2in they’d still be too high.. maybe if bumpers etc. were in the cards near term I’d leave them, but at least I know I can re-adjust again down the road if needed.
Hopefully by then a set of Kings will be in the budget anyway!
The only real reviews I’d seen were short form content from Shock Surplus, who had only good things to say about the 5100’s.
I can’t believe it’s taking this long for 6112/8112, I wonder what the hold up is. If they were waiting to see sales numbers to decide whether development would be worth...
Interesting, from a quick read it seems like most of the ESCV benefits come with the hardest hits at highest speeds. For everything I’m doing with the truck: low speed off roading and on-road daily use, the stock shocks felt too soft 90% of the time and too harsh on big hits, like they weren’t...
Got out on the trails today, the ride is infinitely better off road compared to stock, at all speeds. Less harsh, more compliant, have no complaints about the way these perform so far.
Obviously this photo was not taken on level ground, but you can see the front sitting a bit higher than the rear
Yesterday I installed a set of Bilstein 5100’s on my 2024 TRD Off Road. I paid around $480 for 4 shocks on Black Friday, and waited to hit 15k miles to put them on, to line up an oil change with the post-lift alignment.
The install went smoothly, this was the 3rd time I’ve replaced shocks on a...
AirPlay in park is such a no-brainer feature for these trucks with large, relatively high-res displays.
Unfortunately my confidence in Toyota actually turning it on is ZERO, at least for the next several years.
I’m pretty happy with my build as it stands. Here’s what I’ve done so far and what I may do in the future.
