  1. Replacing with 12k miles on the dealer stock Falken tires? Really?!?

The Toyota OEM AT3W/A tire should be illegal to sell. It has 9/32 of tread depth. A/T tires typically have at least 15/32. Think mine are 16.5/32. I'm not a crazy environmentalist (as evidenced by my Taco on 34s) but I'm genuinely frustrated by stuff like this. Let's fill the landfills...
  2. disabling DCM / telematics in 2025 Taco

I tested with a couple of Android Auto phones and they pretty rough when the GPS was off (Had DCM fuse pulled). The Pixel 8 Pro's GPS did better than the Pixel 7's. Android Auto definitely is reading a GPS signal from the head unit. I'm not an expert on Android Auto development but have been...
  3. disabling DCM / telematics in 2025 Taco

I would recommend not pulling the GPS antenna wire. I think it's the center one. GPS does not transmit. It will theoretically prevent the vehicle from storing location data locally, but I don't think it's doing much/any of that. The head unit furnishes the GPS data to Android Auto and...
  4. 2026 Tacoma new colors: Mud Bath and Heritage Blue (Blue Crush removed)

The AI-generated pic drives me crazy. That thing is 15% Nissan Frontier if you look at it closely! :D Walkaround vid on 4Runner here of real thing:
  5. TRD PRO IN MUD MODE

Your Bronze Oxide TRD Pro looks great!
  6. AliExpress 14.6" Infotainment - Anyone have experience with these?

Would love to have one of these if they actually worked, even over the OEM 14". Would be nice to run maps natively without CarPlay. That said, can these even get to the OEM settings menu? Not that there's a ton of critical settings in there, and maybe a decent scantool can still customize...
  7. low MPG

MT tires definitely tear up mileage. But I'd also look at the tire size difference. Look up the actual outside diameter of the stock tires vs the MTs, then multiply your mileage by that ratio. The MT tires are likely closer to true size, where the SR5 "31s" are probably more like 30.5.
  8. Smallest tire for a 2.5” factory lift.

I don't have mine yet but it's going to be almost exactly this (see pic at bottom). I found these pics on autotrader, hilariously exactly identical to what I have on order, same truck configuration, color, lift, wheels, wheel finish, and tires. Wheels are Method 703 35mm offset, Tires are...
  9. disabling DCM / telematics in 2025 Taco

I went with this solution (bought it, even though truck is still on the way): https://www.autoharnesshouse.com/store/AHH-DCM77 This supposedly works and no power goes to the DCM at that point, so the cellular modem is genuinely dead. EDIT: This does not seem to work properly. May try it...
  10. Method 703 + KO2 285/70/17

I'd be surprised if you noticed it much on a hybrid. The hybrid has larger 18" wheels and the same outside diameter (~33") stock tires. KO2 C-loads are lighter than your SL Wildpeaks. And of course the hybrid has ridiculous low-end torque. When I stick 285/75R17s on my inbound '25 6MT...
  11. Got my gas tank drilled

At least every now again one of them has this happen:
  12. Superficial comparison look at Tacoma vs 4Runner TRD Pro (materials, build quality, feel, paint)

I'm not OP, but personally I'm critical of all my vehicle purchases. I've never understood folks who are like "well, I spent 50 or 70 grand on this therefore it is great and we will speak no ill of it!" I don't attack other people's stuff like this, but I see no point in lying to myself about...
  13. Trd lift vs iforce Max

I've seen iForceMax on trucks with the OEM lift. Local dealer here had a Sport in that configruation, but it looks like it has sold.
  14. Superficial comparison look at Tacoma vs 4Runner TRD Pro (materials, build quality, feel, paint)

BTW wonder if your 4Runner just got "cleaned"/PDI'ed by dealer with some lousy products. I think those red glove boxes and center console covers would be the same part number.
  15. Superficial comparison look at Tacoma vs 4Runner TRD Pro (materials, build quality, feel, paint)

Have owned both 3rd gen Tacoma and 5th gen 4Runner (still waiting on my 4th gen Taco order.) There is no comparison between those two vehicles on interior quality. For their vehicle category / price points, the 3rd gen is at the bottom of the industry and the 4Runner is at the absolute top.
  16. Control aftermarket lights with high beam lever (in addition to high beams)?

I like the way the TRD light bar works in the Pro/TH where it toggles on/off with the highbeams. You have to push the "Light Bar" button to enable its operation, but then it only comes on with the highbeams. Still waiting for my TRD Offroad to show up, but thinking about adding some DD SS3...
  17. CV Axle differences between trims?

According to "Tinkerer's Adventures" channel (who seems to be a pretty excellent technical reviewer), it's TRD Offroad and above (so also Pro+Trailhunter). Think 3G and prior are the tri-pod style CVs. Starting at 4:30 in:
  18. Build Thread Romer's 2024 Tacoma Off Road Bronze Oxide

Thanks for posting all this, looks great! Have a fairly similar '25 Bronze Oxide in the order queue and somewhat similar plans.
  19. Video: Safety Sense 3.0 - Dynamic Cruise Control & Lane Tracing on the highway

Old thread....but.... Did the dashcam come without a high-write-rated SD card? I tried a normal duty SD in a dashcam in another vehicle and was shocked at how quickly it died. I figured using a Samsung or Sandisk 256GB card that could record 24hr of time would last 100 cycles...and I...
  20. Any intel on 17x8.5 +18 offset wheels?

I think one decent aesthetic example would be Trailhunter wheels, they're 18x8.5 with a 20mm offset.
