I guess you could call this a PSA with a disclaimer.
TL;DR - There's a 20% off coupon (TIREWHEEL24) for certain sellers on eBay, maximum value per transaction $200, usable twice per account but once per order/transaction. In short, you can currently get up to $200 off wheels and $200 off tires for your new Taco, through 3/31. The disclaimer is that no, I am not representing this is the best deal ever. It might save some folks some money, so I'm posting it here.
So here's my story even though you didn't ask! I'm waiting for my TRD Sport to be built and delivered (build date was allegedly March 16th), and after waffling for a considerable time after putting down my deposit, a week or so before build I decided to call the dealer and say I made up my mind to get the 18" black TRD wheels , the black tube steps and the "blackout" package or at least the black overlays and tailgate insert. Well, what I decided and what Toyota had in mind were two different things. The guy I'm going through at the dealer told me the vehicle was “already labeled” and they’d have to reach out to their “rep in the region”. As is turned out, the only thing Toyota "allowed" them to add was the black tailgate insert. I know Toyota does orders in their own interesting way, but I didn't expect that.
Since I'm now going on the assumption that I will have a truck incoming with stock wheels and tires, I started shopping around and came across this deal.

It's only valid for certain sellers, but Discount Tire is one of those sellers. Here are some sample numbers I got while shopping, after applying the coupon (prices in USD, all with free shipping):
Some sample 17" or 18" Tires:
--------------------------
4x 265/65/R18 BFG KO2 tires - $1,101.68 after tax | Seller: Discount Tire, $1,301.68 after tax without coupon
4x 265/65/R18 Falken Wildpeak AT3/W tires - $948.58 after tax | Seller: Discount Tire, $1,148.58 eBay price after tax without coupon
4x 265/70/R17 BFG KO2 tires - $948.54 after tax | Seller: Discount Tire, $1,148.54 after tax without coupon
4x 285/70/R17 BFG KO2 tires - $1,110.19 after tax | Seller: Discount Tire, $1,310.19 after tax without coupon
(above "without coupon" prices seem to be the same at Discount Tire Direct site when I spot checked a couple)
A couple popular 17" Method wheels with acceptable 35mm offsets:
-------------------------------------------------------------
4x 17x8.5 Method MR703 Black Wheel 6x5.5 (35mm) wheels - $953.47 after tax | Seller: So Cal Custom Wheels, $1,153.47 eBay price after tax without coupon
4x 17x8.5 Method MR705 Black Wheel 6x5.5 (35mm) wheels - $953.47 after tax | Seller: Discount Tire, $1,153.47 eBay price after tax without coupon
eBay also offers an optional installation paid up front and done through affiliated local retail locations near you for $99.96, or you can get them mounted on your own.
There doesn't seem to be much choice of matte black wheels I like, with acceptable offsets, in 18" right now. So I am back to waffling on whether to buy the 18" TRDs from the dealer, or change to 17" wheels. Anyway, those of you in the market for some tires or wheels may want to check it out for yourselves before March 31st.
