Are the MT64s appropriate for a stock weight truck? Some reviews seem to suggest that they work best on trucks with added weight but I did see OME has a 0 lb tuned setup.

I’m interested to see what Marie says but I would bet she says, “our MT64 system works great for a stock weight 4th gen Tacoma! We’ve engineered the shocks, struts and rear springs to work in concert for ideal ride quality and off-road performance. You can also upgrade rear springs to seamlessly accommodate increased weight as needed.” Haha :)

I say that’s all true. Sorry to bomb your reasonable question.

Hello!
If you're planning on keeping your truck stock, the 0lb setup will be the best option. It's tuned for stock weight, so you'll get a better ride on- and off-road, plus you'll get a lift.

If you're planning to add weight later on, that's when you'd want a higher-rated kit to match what you'll be carrying.

As for the feedback you read, "works best on trucks with added weight" is really more about the spring than the MT64 shock itself. The MT64 comes in a few different setups, including the 0lb one that's tuned for a stock truck.

A spring rated for extra weight is stiffer on purpose, so it feels best once the truck is actually loaded and a bit firm without it. So a lot of the time, the ride someone describes really comes down to their spring and how their truck's loaded, and whether they picked the right rating for their setup.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm always happy to help!

Haha you're not wrong! Our MT64s are great for a stock Tacoma (and really any other 4th Gen build). The only thing I'd add is it's not a one-size-fits-all. It's about matching the spring rate to your truck build. Figure out what your build will look like, and you can pick the right springs to match.
