  1. 2024 Tacoma Transmission Overheating on Long Climbs Off-Road

The only difference to the transmission itself 4hi-4lo is overall rpm. Same can be said in lower gears. The higher the rpm at the input shaft, the higher volume fluid the pumps gonna push. The transmission can regulate itself using solenoids for pressure, but not volume of flow. Also, the mo If...
  2. [Quick Survey] Got a tire inflator? Tell us what's missing

Wireless tire inflators suck. Most of them don't have the cfm to get a tire inflated when the seals been compromised, no one ever just has them on the charger ready, and most have a built in battery. For that reason, I use a corded inflator. While Milwaukee has an inflator with a replaceable...
  3. What did you do TO / WITH your 4th gen Tacoma today?! 👨‍🏭 🧰 📸

Got off work this morning, had to drive all the way home to get new contacts (one fell out) then all the way back into town. That's about an hour of driving for me, all just to do a damage assessment on the wifes car: For those keeping score at home; Deer: 1 Corolla: 0 Now just...
  4. 5w-30

Hey now, some of us are married. I could use some soliciting.
  5. Mabett just picked up a Tacoma to start building parts & accessories — would love your input

Personally I'd like to see interior accents, but not all the stickers and junk on the market. One thing that sort of bugs me about these trucks is every interior is the same. They're all black with just some little colored trim bits. All seat options were also black, with the exception of the...
  6. What did you do TO / WITH your 4th gen Tacoma today?! 👨‍🏭 🧰 📸

So I'm not familiar on how the dual beam lights work without a proper diagram. But, here's a really good diagram that explains the basics of how 90% of basic 12v circuits work: Most aftermarket accessories use a Ford style 5 pin relay like this. You can build your own circuits to power most...
  7. Cali raised dual switch backlight. And relay location.

It would be nice if it had a proper wiring diagram. Since I'm not familiar with your specific kit, I can explain the basic concept. When wiring accessories, the relay holds the actual load of the circuit. The switch simply triggers the relay. Any accessory that pulls more than 5 amps typically...
  8. Cali raised dual switch backlight. And relay location.

That would just require changing the switch power source. Instead of using constant power, you would need to switch to keyed on power. If you are using an add-a-fuse then just use a test light to find a circuit that only has power when the truck is running. BTW, if you do go to keyed on power...
  9. Toyota Wireless Trailer Camera System?

Nah, you just didn't use enough water. There's a tipping point where there's enough water the low voltage can't transmit through it and it starts helping just keep things cool. It's like when you drink salt water, you just gotta drink enough of it that it the delicious water out weighs the salt...
  10. Remove dealer alarm

If I ever came across and found those "suitcase" connectors anywhere on my brand new truck I'd cuss the dealer out and make them buy me a brand new replacement harness or file a lawsuit to have one installed. Those are by far the most detrimental way you can possibly make a wiring connection...
  11. How to reduce the engine noise on 2024+ Tacoma?

The under hood pad is actually factory on some Tacomas, just not all. Limiteds all got one for example. It's a cost saving thing.
  12. I didn’t think it was possible... 23 mpg!

I've gotten 24mpg a few times. All depends on conditions, and speed. At 75mph, even on flat ground you're not gonna get there. I achieve it with mostly highway driving on flat ground not interstate as I live out of town. The reason it seems like manufacturers are inflating their numbers is...
  13. SXTH Element Cold Air Intake dyno results?

What did I tell you bout leavin' the shop before that exhaust is finished?
  14. TRD Off Road OEM Flares, paintable?

I'm not a body guy, but I'm pretty sure that's standard for painted plastic trims. I think something about the additional plasticizers effects the overall finish.
  15. TRD Off Road OEM Flares, paintable?

Most any plastic is printable with the right paint and prep work. But as Benny stated it would be easier to buy them painted if you're looking to color match. Otherwise a good scuff and shot of bedliner will resemble the textured finish if that's what you desire.
