I’ve been waiting for the 6112s and or the Pro Truck 3Rs to come out as I originally figured I might as well upgrade to a 2.5 shock if I’m spending the money. However, I’m growing impatient and wondering if anyone on here with a TRD OR switched to the Eibach 2Rs. If so, is it a noticeable...
Would love to get a thread of everyone’s Tacos with tinted windows and the % used. I’m undecided on what I want but planning to go 30% ceramic all the way around. Apologies if this thread is already posted somewhere, feel free to point me in the direction if I missed it
Imagine they would. I would look into Bilstein 5100s though. According to Shock Surplus they ride better than the OR shocks even though they have less tech, no reservoir.
The guys at Shocks Surplus seem to think these top hat failures could be in part due to the OR shocks which have very little travel before hitting the ESCV. They can be harsh on sharp hits and transfer a lot of energy to the chassis. I haven’t had any failures but can confirm the stock OR shocks...
Bought a TRD OR with the upgrade package last October. My first upgrades were the TRD skid plate, Toyota front tow hooks, and the TRD axle back. Recently took advantage of a 25% off sale and bought the Pro wheels + UCAs. Once Bilstein releases the 6112s I plan to buy those and then fit the...
The Tacoma still has the highest resale in class. I imagine it will only get better too as time goes on and the initial news cycle of unreliability fades
Did the tune reduce the transmission “hang” during certain throttle inputs? Or is that just unavoidable with this high stall torque converter transmission?
If you’re doing 3-4 mph up a substantial grade in 4HI you’re asking for a transmission overheat with these high stall torque converters. Regardless, Toyota needs to address the issue. This guy is rationale and the dismissive nature of Toyota is not reassuring.
It really is a good sounding engine for an I4, I have the TRD axle back and I’m happy. My only complaint is when the high stall torque converter keeps the RPMs high on certain throttle inputs and it drones on. I wish it’d shift a bit quicker in those scenarios
Shock Surplus has a video stating that the 5100s ride better than the stock OR suspension although they have less technology (ESCV, reservoir). They’re pretty reasonable but certainly not next to nothing. The OR suspension is good in some scenarios and kind of harsh in others.
The 360 cams come with the premium package. Which also includes leather and the moonroof plus dual zone AC. Seems you have a unicorn. Do you have the JBL?
