For Toyota knocking it out of the park? I assume you know that CarPlay is an Apple product, and Toyota has little influence over that company?
BTW, I have nothing but praise over this truck, and for that matter, CarPlay.
This is the one I bought. Works great.

I'm laughing (with you).
I bought my 2016 Taco new. When I looked at it, it had 10 miles on it. I closed the deal and flew out for a week and came back to pick it up. I got in, and I saw 360 or something on it. I just about turned around. At some point, I realized that was the frigging range...
Well, I've got the Aux switches. For my ditch lights, I wanted a dedicated illuminated switch and bought one from Cali Raised. Thus, when they're on, I've got a blue light.
It works great.
I've got that skid on mine. You have to take it off; there's no access to the drain plug or the filter.
I find it a simple task. I put the truck on ramps, and remove all the bolts except the two in slotted holes. I scoot under with a creeper, set it on my chest, and scoot back out.
I don't know if you've changed your oil, but it kicks out a stream of oil like a garden hose. It's understandable what happened. I don't understand how you could not make a mess without taking the pan off OR installing a Fumoto.
I installed one on my first change. I'm looking forward to #2.
On the highway, I get 23 to 24 MPG. 18.2 x 23 = 418 miles. That's the same range I was getting with my third-gen Tacoma.
What I don't like is that it estimates my range as 305 or something similar when I fill up.
