Same boat as you with longevity, and why I didn't go with the tune.
TRD Does have an intake, but the ID of the pipe is larger and it's outside the calibration window for trims that are not TH and PRO models.
Had a friend with an FD, and those are something special, never give that up. Subi...
Edit - fixed one line for you- My fleet at the moment includes a 2003 Evo, 2007 STi, and a 1995 FD RX7, which I will never under any circumstance sell, so help me god.
I actually have a TRD intake, and it's incompatible with the MAF parameters of the truck without a tune. I'm not committed to...
Personally, I DIY whenever possible simply because I plan to keep the truck for 200k/20 years and enjoy turning wrenches. Totally understandable if folks don't have the time, space, or skills to DIY, but with the tech shortage, I feel it's going to be an increasingly valuable skill.
Also, when...
You're going to need a bi-directional scan tool to perform many maintenance procedures, including this one.
I have an Xtool D8W that has this functionality and would recommend Xtool.
Regarding the process to calibrate the sensors, it requires a tool that measures the angle position of the sensor, which is then assigned to the sensor via a scan tool.
I assigned some generic values within acceptable range just so the new sensors would function and it works ok.
I got this...
I'm not trying to make a statement towards any engine. I'm sharing as a resource to anyone interested in modern Toyota engine design.
I Do Cars Failed Turbo Tundra Engine
The Car Care Nut Failed Tacoma V6 from 2017
After struggling to de-pin and feeling I had compromised the factory connector, I ended up getting this and splicing it in so I could use the 5A switch for the rear.

In a thread for SPV light installs for the ARB Steel rear bumper, there are a few who have swapped the wire that powers the rear accessory. I did the same so that the 5A wire is powering the rear. De-pinning the harness was tricky, and I ended up splicing in a Toyota pigtail connector.
Same for me.
The MT, port injection, and lack of GPF made the Tacoma the winner for me.
I'd consider another Tacoma at the end of this generation if they don't add a GPF, still offer the MT, and add compelling features, or if Toyota begins taking build orders.
Not a hybrid owner, but similar observations.
I got a handy battery monitor from anti gravity that I’d recommend. I have the aux switches and 180amp alternator. The truck always starts but not with a lot of confidence.
The battery was warranty replaced back in may (truck sat before sale) and it...
give these a try.

I ordered a trd intake, and it didn't come with clips, so I got these and they had very little tension in them. I had to bend them a bit to increase leverage.
It will auto brake as part of cruise control, unsure about emergency situations, I've gotten the alarm but no braking as part of that. I am yet to stall this truck, and haven't intentionally tried to see what happens.
Appreciate the write-up, I'm awaiting CARB Approval and hopefully that coincides with their FMIC and boost tubes.
I have the iDash and love having all that information available.
Banks does it right.
