Those who installed aftermarket hood struts need to careful when closing the lightweight aluminum hood.
285/75/17 with +25 offset. The tread is to the end of the fender flares, sidewall pokes out a bit.
I chose this offset because I felt it provided the perfect tire “poke” while still providing paint protection from dirt/stones.
I have not seen any articles stating what alloy the exterior panels on the 4th Gen Tacoma are manufactured from. I did my own magnet test from front to back and found the following:
Hood: Aluminum
Fenders: Steel
Door skins: Steel
Roof: Steel
Bed sides: Aluminum
Tailgate: Aluminum

Improved ergonomics and new 8-speed tranny are the top two major improvements in my book.
No more sitting on the floor with outstretched legs or a tranny that is constantly hunting for the correct gear.
