The Dongar Pro has it's own "parking mode" where it continues to provide power to the dashcam after the ignition is turned off. This is great for dashcams without their own built in parking mode.
The Viofo has a parking mode (when hard wired) where it detects that the ignition is turned off and...
Not having a canister was a big draw for me as well.
A little water gets in a few gaps that I haven't bothered to cover. I'm sure you could seal it up a bit better with some more weather stripping. Even without anything extra it isn't bad.
I have the BAK Revolver without the T slots and have been very happy with it. It's a little finicky to install just right but it has been very solid once I dialed it in.
Yes to your first question. That is how it is designed. There are only 2 powered AUX plugs as far as I am aware so you'd have to double up at least one to use all 3 AUX switches.
As for your second question, theoretically yes, I believe they are all the same wire gauge so it should be safe. But...
The bolts are M6-1.0.
This is all I have for part numbers for the rack components. Doesn't immediately turn anything up but you can usually search around on the part sites and find something.
I rent hybrid Camrys and Rav4s all the time for work. Every now and then I hear what you're talking about from them but it's maybe 1 in 10 or less. No consistency as far as mileage or trim. I imagine it's the regenerative braking or something to do with it. I have not heard it from my own Tacoma.
Are you talking about these?

I usually have better luck finding part numbers by searching through the Toyota part sites. Once you have the...
You're welcome. Unfortunately they are not publicly available and technically shouldn't be shared. They are available through TIS (Toyota Information Systems).
It has all of the information that service techs and dealerships have access to on wiring, mechanical, and software. It's great but...
Yes, this taps into the factory wiring harness connector reserved for the OEM dashcam. It provides the constant and accessory voltage needed for parking mode.
I am fairly sure that the wiring harness for this plug is 22AWG and I think it's fused off the dome light which is 10A. But I wouldn't wire anything in that draws more than 5A.
EDIT: Looks like it depends on production date. Regardless it is 10A fuse, but I wouldn't want to pull more than 5A as...
Originally I left it long in case it didn't work or I wanted to reuse it. But once I had it wired up I just couldn't be bothered to shorten things and reterminate them.
I’ve been enjoying my 2024 Trailhunter for about a month now, and one of my first priorities was installing a dashcam. I initially bought a Dongar Pro after seeing it heavily recommended online. It’s a great product, but it’s not fully compatible with VIOFO cameras, which I wanted to...
I just did it with mine. It doesn't make a massive difference, but you can tell a difference in the "note". The engine volume is about the same but the artificial noise deepens it a bit. I ended up turning mine back on.
I was in the same boat as you and did the same math. I sprung for the Trailhunter. I didn't want to wait for my exact spec to show up somewhere so I just found a TH in the color I wanted and had it transferred to my dealership. Still ended up waiting about 3 months for it to arrive and paid more...
