Yes I have the molle panels but haven’t installed yet. Probably in another week or two. I just want a place for my pistol, knife and a flashlight. Maybe a first aid kit too. They look great when I unboxed them but will see after installing.
On the rear, besides the King 2.5 system I am also installing Total Chaos rear links and the Panhard bar. Spendy but a big upgrade over the stock set up. Ive hit my rear links on rocks many times with my Jeep and was glad I had very stout links. Likewise I really want something more solid...
Time for the suspension work. Ive worked on solid front axles before - first time doing anything on an independent front suspension. As mentioned before, I went with the King 2.5 set up. Seems to be one of the more common choices and King has a great reputation. I have Fox set ups on both of...
I have
I just took one off my new (30 miles) TRD off road as I wanted one that matched the PRO and TH. They are a bit of a pain but not that complicated to swap out. I show photos and discuss a little on my build thread.
Yes they come with holes for sensors (at least mine did). The...
Not sure what you’re looking to spend but I ordered one from this place. Comes painted to match. Then I bought the hood scoop on eBay.
https://partifyusa.com/
Seems like finding someone who is willing to trade a sport/pro hood for an off road hood (in the right color) is near impossible.
As mentioned I waited two months for the Tacoma after ordering it. During that time I accumulated most of the parts for the build and spent time ceramic coating everything I could. The wheels, shocks, springs, links etc.. It will be nice to have it on the wheels for sure but figured why not...
Sure here you go.... pretty spendy for what it is but they are milling these ends I assume so thats not cheap. Looks like the company mainly works with Rams. Ive seen other guys make this concept work with ratchet extensions and socket pieces but this flexible hydraulic hose works wonderfully...
Well I don't know that I have a lot of skill at least as a mechanic. I watch a lot of YouTube videos and read instructions well. Most of these installs also probably take me twice as long as someone who actually knows what they are doing. When I did my Jeep build my wife was convinced I would...
Interesting! I wasn’t aware of this. I’ve since looked at the camera screen and didn’t notice a difference. Could be I only have a few miles on the truck and wasn’t used to the “usual” image thus don’t pick up on the difference.
Issue? If you mean the mounting bracket for the camera - I ordered one from Rave when I ordered the new grille. Everything went in without problem. If there is another issue Im not aware of it.
Now with the front grille, bumper cover etc. completed I worked on the bumper and winch. Because this is a “stealth” style bumper the winch is very hidden to the point it isn’t even accessible. The winch & bumper install wasn’t terrible but it was a bit of a challenge with only two arms...
Likewise - have you started a build thread?
Ive been a Ram/Dodge Cummins guy for 20+ years. Doubt I'll ever go a different direction. I have a 6" lift and 38s on mine... my wife hates it as it's a Mega Cab and fairly large. The tacoma is in part for her so she has access to a smaller truck...
Day 1-2
Finally after a long wait the Tacoma has arrived. I was able to take some time away from the office and get started. Pulled it into the shop and started the tear down.
It's a little odd ripping apart a brand new truck with 30 miles on it. My jeep was used and about 8 years old...
Let the build commence!
I ordered this truck two months ago and it finally arrived. A 2025 TRD Off Road Premium. I spent that time accumulating parts for this build. It’s been several years since my last build project where I tore down and built up a Jeep Wrangler TJ and Ive been wanting a...
Was wondering. Was a member of a forum for a certain NFL team for about 15 years before it vanished permanently one day. Was worried this one suffered the same fate. I just started a build so I’m glad it’s back!
Was wondering if there is an update on the release of these different stages. Just getting ready to start a build with a new hybrid and looking to get it tuned. I believe my local OTT shop is Taco Vinyl.
Im surprised more Taco owners don't keep a full size spare on board. Ive been a Jeep guy (still am I suppose since I have a "built" TJ) and it seems like the vast majority of the Jeepers who do any real off-roading carry a full size spare. It sounds like anything over 33" wont fit in the stock...
