$650/mo into investment account - I paid off my 3rd gen in late 2020 and kept making "payments"
When I buy a 4th gen, I'll finance or pay cash depending on financing rate vs. investments return on the money I've put away.
It shouldn't be using enough power to make any difference.
I've had an aftermarket cellular remote start/lock/unlock/status in my 3rd gen for years and it's had no noticeable impact on battery.
Now it's possible Toyota's software is doing something to use a lot of power that my Viper...
Fuelly will likely be best since you tell it the exact amount of fuel purchased. Then the only real question is odometer accuracy, which is easily checked. .
It's in the Warranty and Maintenance guide.
Here's the PDF version from https://www.toyota.com/owners/warranty-owners-manuals/
and for what it's worth, I've put 100k miles on my 3rd gen using the 10k / 12 month oil change spec.
I’ve only test driven them, back to back hybrid and non-hybrid 4th gen. So take the following with a grain of salt.
Main things I noticed were that the hybrid exhibited no turbo lag, while the non hybrid had a little bit. Hybrid seemed more responsive, with instant power availability. Not a...
@UsedToBeANissanGuy Nice! Off-road Premium, yes? Hybrid?
My aim is a hybrid OR Premium with just a couple options. Rest I’ll buy and bolt on myself. I keep vehicles a long time, so it’s important to get exactly the config I want.
What galls me is that Ford includes the equivalent of Remote Connect for free. No charge. Im sure they pay a minimal per vehicle charge for the limited data usage of remote status / lock-unlock / start.
Though I pay $70/yr for a third party version of Remote Connect on my 3rd gen so the $80/yr...
Not all brokers are the same, so don't let your presuppositions cloud your view. Jim Rouleau is a broker with a solid history of great reviews. See Facebook and LeaseHacker. Reviews thread. He brokers purchases as well as leases.
Yeah, I think people outside of GST and SET just don't...
Yeah, the octane stuff can be confusing. Especially since there are different measurements and some countries use an average of them and others use just one.
More info - perhaps more clearly conveyed - at Wikipedia
And yes, any of these gasoline threads can be summarized with the advice to...
I think you've misunderstood the research octane number reference.
Octane is determined by two different methods - Research Octane Number and Motor Octane Number. MON tends to run about 8 points lower than RON. In North America the pump octane number is the average of the two and you'll see...
Although I live in Georgia now, I lived up in snow country until my 30’s
In blowing snow or fog, you want your lighting to be as far off of your view angle as possible. The lower the better.
I would not add lights to the hood except for pure decoration
Thanks, yes the picture quoted is very similar to the low-fuel notice I get on my 3rd gen. Though that one doesn't go away without pressing the back button as you describe.
It's helpful to know the PKSB alert does self-dismiss - sounds like minimal annoyance level (beyond the WTF of how...
Sorry to bring back the thread, but I'm curious how annoying this is on a day to day basis?
I'm looking to move to a 4th gen OR with the premium package, and I've typically just left my 1Up single-tray on my 3rd gen since I tend to use it a couple times a week.
If the 4th gen is like the 3rd and other models, there's a drip tray under the edges of the sunroof and drains at the front. Any bit of water that comes past the sunroof should drain.
Be sure to add checking the sunroof drains to your periodic maintenance - once a year or so open the sunroof...
Agreed, at 7.5% there's not a lot of investments to compare which don't have substantial risk.
Presently Southeast Toyota is offering 2.99% at 36 month, and my credit union offers 4.45% at 48 month. Those have more options for better rates in conservative investments.
As for personal debt...
Depends on whether you can make more by investing the cash than you'd pay on a loan.
Specifics will vary by individual risk tolerance, credit score, and available financing promotions. Don't spend more than you can afford, and choose which works best to your individual situation.
