I'm not "people". I'd like to say my 30+ years in the repair industry gives me a slight edge above the average joe that doesn't have the automotive repair backgroud. But I get it; everyone is a know-it-all.
Regardless - I never said any brand is better. Many features, interiors, etc are MUCH...
Being in the auto repair business for 30+ years, no I'm not kidding. Any good seasoned industry professional will tell you the same. The Tacoma is the benchmark for reliability, durability, and re-sale value.
Also, the industry data backs it up.
It's non-debatable regardless of what you've...
I was all aboard the hype wagon until I saw the fuel mileage numbers. I've got no problem going to a 4cyl from the 6cyl; but NOT with the same fuel mileage.
And you are right, gotta let them play out for a few years first. I've got a 22 OR that I'll be keeping for a bit and to be honest, I...
My thoughts (ASE Master Tech 30+ years and former Toyota Master Tech)
I've experimented with this. At 5K, oil looks clean. It doesn't start to look like it needs to be changed until around 7K.
Toyota has done testing and obviously they know best. But- severe conditions dictate otherwise. Here...
I do think the price increase is a bit much.
But - comparing ANY Chevy, Ford, or Nissan mid sized truck to a Tacoma is ridiculous. The Tacoma is the benchmark standard in reliability, resale value, and sale #. It's the best mid truck in the world and that's not a debate.
From what I've heard (rumor) there is going to be a shorter wheel-based Landcruiser. That's where I'd really like to be.... 4Runner could also be an option - depending on MPG and price too.
I am keeping my 2022 OR.
Reasons for not getting 2024:
1-MPG isn't good enough to transition to 4cyl
2-I am not crazy about any of the colors
3-Intrest rates are stupid right now
4-Unproven technology
5-I might move on from Tacoma (had them 20+ years) and go to Landcruiser
This... Looking at the mpg numbers - I feel like the 4cyl is going to work HARD to push this truck around. I was excited for the 4th gen- but not anymore. I'm keeping my 2022. Maybe for a long time.
Good idea. But, at this point, I've decided I'm keeping my 2022 for a few years. I honestly don't love any of the color offerings. I'd also like to see how they do first.
Problem with Toyota special rates - usually apply to last year vehicles. Also, if you venture out and get from an external source, you loose any offers from Toyota such as Military, Grad, etc.
Talked to dealer today- in US - Said lastbb by of 2023s being delivered in the next week or so. Said shows ZERO 2024s so far. They can usually tell 3 months out.
Not a fan of the color but I do like the options the Sport has (I do more on pavement than off). Wondering this - what are the clearances looking like? Will the sport have the same lift as the off-road?
