  1. Fox or Kings

Fox Factory series also need to be rebuilt occasionally. Any of these "race" shocks are going to need periodic maintenance. Fox Performane, OME or a Billstein product are going to be more "durable" in that regard.

I will ship if you arrange everything and I just have to drop it off somewhere.
  3. KO3 sidewall protection C vs E

Duratrac are known for having very weak sidewalls, regardless of load rating. You found that out the hard way, sadly.
  4. Tire Size and Load Rating - Best Match for Trailhunter on 17" and 18"

Yep. It's all about tradeoffs and your priorities and use case. I also am not a fan of heavy tires on these trucks, 4 runners, or LC250s. I previously had a diesel Jeep Gladiator and that thing could care less about how heavy of a tire you put on it, with regards to fuel mileage and power at...
  5. Tire Size and Load Rating - Best Match for Trailhunter on 17" and 18"

I’m at a complete loss as to why Falken gave that tire a standard sidewall. The 17ā€ version (what I have used) is a Duraspec sidewall. But if you don’t need the sidewall strength, then I think that would be a really good option for these trucks (18ā€) using the stock wheels and a load C. Then you...
  6. KO3 sidewall protection C vs E

Hey @Dirt I'm confused as to what you're referencing here. If regarding Falken then yes... the internet does say it to be so, in and of so much as it is direct from the MFG published information. I trust them to be honest in this respect, as they definitely tout the Duraspec sidewalls to be 3...
  7. Tire Size and Load Rating - Best Match for Trailhunter on 17" and 18"

C load are definitely more appropriate for our trucks. If you're looking at KO3 they are equivalent in sidewall protection to the E rated KO3s. But in BFG tires, all of them are reasonable as far as ride quality is concerned. So if you want a 275/70r18 load E tire (what I'm running on my TH...
  8. KO3 sidewall protection C vs E

I never said they increased the actual plies the tire has. In fact I said quite the opposite. It's interesting you change your message every post. 1st it's this... then it's that. I also never said that BFG didn't change the design of the sidewall on the E. Only that the E does not have...
  9. KO3 sidewall protection C vs E

Enjoy the new tires! You did good :)
  10. KO3 sidewall protection C vs E

There is no difference in tire *compound* between load C and E rated BFG KO2/3 tires. Also the ply rating is actually in fact an increase in effective plies in the treadbed on these tires. It's an actual 3 ply sidewall and 7 ply effective tread on the E. Ultimately, any of these will be fine...
  11. KO3 sidewall protection C vs E

One last point of clarification here. Some Mfgs could absolutely engineer their higher load rated tires to have more puncture resistance sidewalls. It's just the devil is in the details and you shouldn't assume that to be true. BFG has chosen not to do that. Other manufactures actually have...
  12. KO3 sidewall protection C vs E

You can believe this to be true, but It is simply incorrect. An E rated ko2 or 3 isn’t ā€œstrongerā€ than a C load. BFG engineers have even confirmed this. It’s a very common misconception. I understand this might not be intuitive to most people. But, nonetheless higher load rating BFG off-road...
  13. KO3 sidewall protection C vs E

E rated KO2/3 are NOT stronger tires than a C in regard to the sidewall. They just have different load ratings and construction changes. These are both 3 ply sidewall tires. The old adage about "8 ply, 10 ply, etc" tires doesn't apply to modern radial tires. It's an approximation to an old...
  14. Which topper and why ARE?

I had one of the initial batches of SmartCaps to come to the US several years ago. This was on a gladiator. It was decent and a good option at the time. That said, it was heavy and the modular design meant it had to be tightened regularly. It was also damaged in shipping and that is something...

  17. šŸ’²What price did you pay for your 2024 Tacoma??

Twin Cities, MN. Dealer also had a short bed on order that is discounted just a bit less ($~2200 or so). Both were in white. They have a couple bronze coming in that are marked down ~$400 at the moment, but I bet they come down once they hit the lot. I'd originally been interested in the...
  18. Jeep Owners are Insufferable 🤣

I’m enjoying my new Trailhunter. But the interior feels Ike a cheap joke compared to our last Gladiator Rubicon and wife’s Wrangler Rubicon X. (Seat is nicer to sit in on the Taco though). Overall very happy with the move from the Gladiator to the Tacoma. It’s fun to have something new to play...
  19. šŸ’²What price did you pay for your 2024 Tacoma??

$2850 off MSRP on a ā€˜25 LB Trailhunter this past weekend. MSRP was $65k and change (bed liner and black tailgate inlay). Not the greatest, but happy with the transaction, ease at the dealership, and they were generous on my trade. So overall deal was a win.
