Thanks, I had no idea;) Jokes aside, I needed a solution that charges my phone as opposed to cooking it.
OEM Wireless charge mat:
My phone overheats and barely charges. Perhaps it's my phone's size [15 Pro, non Max], my MagSafe case and/or both however I don't experience poor [and worrisome]...
Agreed.. I was not comfortable pulling the whole thing out - felt pretty settled/stuck to the right side where there's no removable panel to get at the retaining clips
Got a much better MagSafe charger installed using two other posts to disable the OEM charging mat. This holds the phone higher and flat providing a perfect gap for the camera + case bezel:
Panel removal:

Just a quick note - the panel with the wireless charge pad is retained by clips and can be pulled forward for easy access to the connector eliminating the requirement for a long screw driver:
I suspect this connector could be repurposed as another/internal USB charge port but I don't have time...
Hey thanks - does this also disable the USB ports? EDIT: Was referring to the fuse method however I'm going to try the Qi harness disconnect instead as I'm on a hybrid -- still curious if the USB ports remain powered.
Update:
I've had the Bison flip back tri-fold tonneau installed for a couple weeks and love it. It shipped in Canada and arrived in ~4 business days. The provided tracking number was never updated past "preparing shipment", nor was the shop app any use logistically, making delivery/receipt...
This doesn't exist.. If you have an iPhone with the Lidar sensor you could 3D scan the dock, 3D scan the non-JBL cover, modify into a custom cover design and 3D print ABS or ASA... doubt anyone will be doing that though.. most folks will pull the dock and use the OEM cover I suspect.
Hey folks,
EDIT: This appears to be an IOS 18 issue that for whatever reason impacted my Tacoma and not CarPlay in other vehicles. Workable solution found via this thread - although I had to use the volume knob on the HU [as opposed to just maxing out on the iPhone].
Original Post:
My car is...
Anyone seen anything with respects to relocating the wired CarPlay port? I'm not a big fan of leaving a CarPlay AI box hanging off the side of the HU, basically sitting on my dash..
The Dummy OBD team said it would work but to your point and if it doesn't: I would need to build an OBD switch -- which is technically a 5 or 6 wire switch [capture below, can't tell but <8!]. As a telecom engineer: using a passive Cat-5 switch would work;) Cat-5 though Cat-7 all being 8-wire...
It's worth noting you have to remove the dock to install this cover.. 4x 10mm bolts. That said you could easily cut the tabs on this and use some 3M hook+loop tape [velcro] to secure it over the dock *however* you would also have to remove the dock trim/cover piece first -- you can yank it off...
Ya, point taken. I had a back and forth with Dummy OBD about exactly this and they were adamant it's a true pass-through. I did testing before/after using my Bosch hand held then OBD Fusion +BT adaptor to ensure it was working to the best of my abilities [OBD Fusion is pulling everything on the...
Ya I misspoke in the video and said something to the effect of a single center channel - intending a single driver as another option. A single 3 1/2 - 4" would absolutely work as well.
I don't own the diagnostics tools necessary to determine what the frequency range is on the provided amplified...
Toronto - vehicle theft epicentre since Covid.
I'm not from Toronto but here now/regardless. No need for any of this on the gen 2 Taco nor Porsche.. both of which were equipped at factory with the following millennial anti-theft device:
Hey Folks,
After reading a few articles with comments from local police I decided to go ahead with the following two OBD modifications, wired in series:
Dummy OBD relocation kit:
1) Relocated Toyota OBD2 interface. Distance from original location to the kit's main "hub" depends on how much...
