  1. Hybrid (i-Force Max) MPG Rating in 2024 Land Cruiser Released - Tacoma Guesses?

I would bet fuel economy is about the same for the Pro and TH, they should be marginally lighter than the LC (and not full time 4wd) but will be taller and less aerodynamic. The TRD sport hybrid will likely yield the highest MPG numbers. I think the MPG is a side benefit of the hybrid and the...
  2. Rear locker on the Off-Road trim -- only available in 4low?

Everything I've read has stated the rear locker is only available in 4low. My Colorado is similar to your Ranger in that you can activate the rear locker in any drive mode.
  3. The moonroof still sucks If you're 6'3 or above...

My previous vehicle had a sunroof but my current one does not, I would not pay extra for one if I had the choice. I feel like one of the negatives of the Tacoma is how Toyota locks certain options behind pricey options packages. I personally want ventilated seats and a 360 cam but I have no...
  4. Dyno Numbers: 4th Gen 2024 Tacoma versus 3rd Gen Tacoma (Stock turbo 4 vs Stock V6)

Those are some healthy numbers, especially compared to what Toyota is advertising at the crank. What confuses me though is that Toyota advertises peak torque from 1700rpm through 3500rpm while this shows it building up to a peak at 4000rpm. I've never dyno'd a vehicle before so maybe that is...
  5. IKE Gauntlet Towing Test: 2024 Tacoma TRD Off-Road vs. 2023 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss FULLY LOADED!

C&D weighed a similarly spec'd base TRD OR at 4670lbs and a premium at 4794. For some reason Toyota chose to put 1200lbs on every TRD OR when in theory it should be a lot higher and right on par with the Trail Boss.
  6. 1,000 mile road trip in a 2024 TRD Off-Road -- Impressions

17.5mpg is pretty respectable for a truck at 85mph, slow down to 70 and you'll probably get the EPA estimates. How many gallons are you putting in after 250 miles? It seems like every vehicle estimates miles remaining differently. My Jeep reserves about 3 gallons, but my Mustang is...
  7. Bought a 2024 Tacoma Off-Road Premium today!

Wow that's a lot of great photos! Thanks for letting us live vicariously! A few things I've noticed and a few questions: -It appears that TRD OR base packages don't get the under hood insulation while the premium package does. -The gas tank skid only covers the front half of the gas tank...
  8. 2024 Tacoma arrives at a dealership! - Silver SR5

I’d like to see a direct comparison between the 8” and 14” screens but so far it seems you’re correct. I believe the surround view camera is only bundled with the 14” screen but otherwise you just get really big icons. I feel like they would’ve been better off just choosing one screen size in...
  9. $60K+ Halo Tacomas?

I'm at 5500 miles on my '23 ZR2 and have always exceeded the EPA ratings, unless towing. My commute is 40 miles roundtrip with 2/3 of that at 75-80mph and I usually average 18-19mpg. I recently did a 1600 mile roadtrip and found the range to be about 330 miles with "50 miles to empty". The...
  10. TRD Sport Upgrade Package seems to have dropped heated seats

It would be a huge miss for them not to include heated seats on a $50k truck. That’s one of the features that i wouldnt even consider a vehicle if it didn’t have heated seats, and I live in Texas! My guess is that they are included in the upgrade package and the configurator is wrong.
  11. Update: CANADA 2024 Tacoma Build & Price Configurator Now Live!

It does appear that the same trim and package in Canada is de-contented compared to the US spec. If it's any consolation, when you account for the exchange rate the Canadian version is several thousand dollars cheaper than the US version.
  12. 2024 another hold up, due to EPA certification

The same thing happened with the 2023 Colorado launch and it delayed initial sales for almost 2 months. Hopefully it doesn't take quite as long for the Tacomas.
  13. 2024 Tacoma Build and Price Configurator Now Live! - Post Up Your Builds!!

Those numbers seem very plausible. I've been comparing the Grand Highlander 2.4T AWD vs Hybrid Max AWD to get an idea of pricing, weight, and mpg differences between iForce and iForce Max. It's not a direct comparison because the hybrid systems are slightly different, but it's the closest...
  14. Love & Hate

Great video that I think answered a lot of questions. My big takeaways: Decent fuel economy, 23-24mpg, with or without the chin spoiler. TRD OR will be slightly worse with more aggressive tires and worse aerodynamics but shouldn't be too far off. The iForce engine is more powerful than the...
  15. Payload, GVWR, GAWR Figures for 2024 Tacoma (published in owners manual)

It's very confusing and their wording is not consistent throughout the manual. Page 613 shows "vehicle capacityweight (occupants + luggage)" as 1200lbs. Page 664 shows "cargo weight rating" as 450lbs. They further complicate it by listing it based on the obscure model codes that are difficult...
  16. 2024 Tacoma Build and Price Configurator Now Live! - Post Up Your Builds!!

Toyota engineers tuned the engine to balance fuel economy and power. In this case you're getting near V8 power with V6 fuel economy on 87 octane. The 4th gen is also hundreds of pounds heavier from added features and a sturdier frame yet it is faster and gets the same fuel economy as the 3rd...
  17. New Trailhunter Promo Video: "It's pretty gnarly out here" featuring Mark Healy & Andy Bell

A TRD OR premium w/ sway bar disconnect is already $55k, hybrid will bring it up to $59-60k. Now add ARB rear bumper, ARB bed rack, rock rails, raised air intake, front light bar, OME suspension bits, etc. $65k is starting to sound like a conservative guess, don't forget to option your ARB...
  18. Payload, GVWR, GAWR Figures for 2024 Tacoma (published in owners manual)

I think that's likely what is going on here. 1446 for a fully loaded TRD OR is very respectable and leaves a lot of room for larger tires and accessories. The Canyon AT4 is about 1500lbs and my loaded ZR2 w/o sunroof is at 1280lbs.
  19. Payload, GVWR, GAWR Figures for 2024 Tacoma (published in owners manual)

A quick google search showed that the previous gen did have door stickers that matched the owners manual. It’s possible that Toyota published the minimum numbers for each configuration and didn’t account for option differences. The only numbers that matters is GVWR - curb weight. The door...
  20. Payload, GVWR, GAWR Figures for 2024 Tacoma (published in owners manual)

So if the GVWR for the TRD OR is 6240 and the payload is only 1200lbs, then that puts the curb weight just over 5000lbs depending on options. Google says the 2023 TRD Pro curb weight is 4465 and GVWR of 5600 for a difference of ~600lbs! That is one chunky taco! Judging by the Grand...
