I’ve had the AWE Exhaust on for 8,000 miles on my 6MT and can confirm there is basically zero drone. I’ve cruised at 60, 70, 80, and 90 mph and at the worst, it’s a little hum but the drone cancelling resonator basically eliminates any annoying vibrations.
I’ve got the AWE exhaust on my 6 speed and I love it. Paired with the SXTH Element intake, it makes cool turbo sounds and occasionally pops during upshift. Makes driving a lot more enjoyable. Additionally, the AWE exhaust does NOT drone. All the benefits with no annoying drone.
I tried...
My transmission did something similar. I had to go into neutral again before it would smoothly engage 1st. After 4-5000 miles the issue went away. I think it’s part of the transmission getting broken in.
How much boost pressure is the engine producing after installing the module? How much psi more than stock? Are you guys able to determine that the engine can safely sustain the increased pressure?
I’ve got those same exact tires and they’re great. Good in snow and rain. Lightweight but look aggressive, and not too much road noise. I’ve got aftermarket wheels though
what does your VIN end with? Mine is around ~42000 and I’ve got around 11k miles no issues. Sorry to hear you’re dealing with this. Allegedly they fixed it past vin #s 25000+
This mod is next on my list! Can you guys speak on OTT and how it affects warranty? I know on the previous gen v6s, there were no warranty issues, what about for the 4cyl turbo?
When the truck is on, the exhaust will probably vibrate and make intermittent contact. I’m assuming you’ve tried loosening the clamps and bolts and moving the pipe around?
I agree, the rev hang isn’t bothersome to me anymore but at first it definitely felt noticeable. I slowed my shifts down and it fixed it. I’ve had cars in the past tuned to remove rev hang, and it allowed me to shift quick and smooth without issues. Looking to do the same on my manual Tacoma
Thanks for the insight. I’ve got 285/70/17 Baja boss AT and it drives exactly like stock. I want bigger tires but I don’t think the disadvantages are worth it
Good update! I’ve got a manual also, what’s your wheel and tire setup? I’ve got 285/70r17 and didn’t notice any difference so I’m curious what you’ve got to feel a different in power and efficiency.
Just filled premium for the first time (92 octane in my region) and I definitely notice the engine being more quiet with slightly smoother power delivery. It might feel just a little more powerful, but the smoothness is apparent.
