Hey OP. Wondering if you ever found a solution to the sharkfin. I'm in the same boat as you. I want to put a hardshell tent on a bed rack and would love to shave off 2 inches on the height. That sharkfin is just in the way!

Can't wait to get mine, but will probably go with falken wild peaks at3's for the improved performance on snow. The BFG's look super nice though!
