  1. Bilstein products - any news yet?

Monroe is a huge OE supplier for the manufacturers!
  2. Bilstein products - any news yet?

Have a look at the emu Tacoma shocks… one will notice who manufactures it… rumor has it: bilstein = licensing agreement between emu and bilstein
  3. Bilstein products - any news yet?

Bilstein also manufactures the Old Man Emu shocks for the Trail Hunter option. Likely Bilstein will have a licensing agreement with Toyota to not sell these to the aftermarket for some time- this is just my assumption
  4. Class action lawsuit filed for transmission issues

If Toyota is certain this problem is from contamination found in the valve body, and torque converter, then the contamination will also be in the bottom of the transmission pan. It cannot go anywhere once it finds its way to the pan. If you could get a commitment from Toyota and the dealership...
  5. Class action lawsuit filed for transmission issues

I am sorry that they are giving you a line of crap. If you can get a service writer to go for a drive in your truck after you both test drive a brand new Tacoma, it might help.. but only if your transmission is predictably giving you trouble, so you can prove/replicate your problem… also, if...
  6. Class action lawsuit filed for transmission issues

Service writers at dealerships are… bullsh*t artists.
  7. Class action lawsuit filed for transmission issues

The torque converter could definitely be the source of the contamination, but it could also receive contamination from the transmission itself. Torque converters are impossible to flush debris from, and nearly impossible for a transmission oil cooler to be completely flushed, that’s why when I...
  8. Class action lawsuit filed for transmission issues

According to the Tacoma talking head from Toyota. It had something to do with contamination within the transmissions. My guess from castings or machining… Toyota receives the transmissions sealed from the manufacturer and is responsible due to chain of custody and selling the truck they...
  9. Class action lawsuit filed for transmission issues

“The plaintiff argues Toyota knew in 2016 the 2024 Tacoma transmissions were defective but "actively concealed and continues to conceal the true nature and extent" of the transmission problems.” interesting allegation… the AL80 series transmissions have only been installed in the 4th gen...
  10. Anniversary Trip to Sedona

Hike up bear mountain next time, it is stunning. Bring food and water and enjoy the view.
  11. AC Drain Hose location?

First noticed in automatic climate controlled vehicles in the late 80’s and continues to this day. If a driver has the AC on as part of the preferred environmental option, then consider shutting the AC off and then rotating the temp up high to prevent condensation from developing in the HVAC...
  12. Is my transmission supposed to sound like a diesel tractor?

That’s your engine’s fuel delivery, not the transmission…
  13. Belt chirp when a/c turns on

It would be worse in cold weather.. is there any contamination on the serpentine belt that spins the AC clutch? If so, that could explain it… if that that belt slips when hot outside, then Toyota corporate needs to know about this issue, especially if you are not the only one… dealer mechanics...
  14. Belt chirp when a/c turns on

Idler only if it is off angle or worn out.. Toyota may need to flash software to pulse the fan clutch on instead of a hard “on” engagement, or increase belt tension. This issue will be most noticeable on cold starts in really cold weather, when rubber is least pliable
  15. Belt chirp when a/c turns on

If the chirping stops or is less noticeable when the engine is completely warmed up, the belt may have overcome the slipping by become warm/more pliable, and able to grip the pulleys with enough force to prevent slippage. Again, spraying water at the ribbed portion of the serpentine belt that...
  16. Belt chirp when a/c turns on

I heard it! Replace the batteries on your smoke alarm. Ok, kidding aside.. if the chirping noise is only doing this on cold starts, then it is likely belt tension. You can confirm this by spraying water from a squirt bottle at the ribbed section of the serpentine belt that drives the ac...
  17. Apple Car Play: Music volume stays loud when listening to text messages

Your message has been submitted under reference number: 241017000418 I added to the incoming complaints and advised them that this problem did not effect my two gen 3 tacomas.
  18. Charging second battery ( deep cycle group 31) carried in bed

Sometimes isolators can reduce destination voltage by .5 volts….. depending upon the vehicle’s alternator voltage output, this could potentially prevent a battery from being completely charged.
  19. Protecting your turbo - turning off the hybrid engine

The smaller isolated ports that utilize exhaust gases from two of the four cylinders are smaller and don’t flow as well at high rpm, volume restriction… but if the system is designed properly, it will make significantly more power between 4k to 5.5k rpm…. Having a single exhaust scroll turbo set...
  20. Protecting your turbo - turning off the hybrid engine

You have answered your own question, perfectly! It is an isolated circuit that hinders the turbo charger design at high rpm but makes much more power in it’s “sweet spot”
