Easy fix. If you don’t mind shelling out a few hundred dollars, just get a new intake. The Stillen one doesn’t require any tuning changes, and the airbox/ filter swap is pretty easy. If there is a future warranty issue, I would just put the old intake back in.
As for the dirty filter? They were...

I installed it. It was super easy. Noise difference is day and night. It sounds like a normal turbocharged engine now.
Same thing happened to me. I was higher altitude driving hard uphill in rain. The dash lit up like a Christmas tree and pulled over to limp it to a dealership. The issue was air filter oil getting all over the MAF sensor and causing issues. Dealership replaced the MAF and I've since purchased a...
So talking with a tech at another shop they think the air filter was over oiled from the factory and had sprayed oil all over the MAF sensor. Apparently you're supposed to service the air filter every 7000km (not sure what that is in freedom units). I haven't seen that anywhere in any service...
Update: I've messed up my MAF sensor with oil from the air filter after making this change. Dealership replaced the sensor. I'll be looking for a TRD pro intake to swap out now.
I can't recommend the modifications I've made to block the snorkel.
Was driving over a mountain pass and I had all the engine lights come on. The turbo was still working at the time this video was recorded. That's not working anymore. Limped it to the dealership. Now I wait.
Quieter... Maybe 40-60% better. I'm surprised its still making any noise to be honest.
I think the only way to completely eliminate the noise is to close the outlet box from under the hood, but that solution is a bit too permanent for me.
Lol, no not in SD...
Yeah, I'm hoping to be able to use it when she's not in the rig... That turbo noise is too fun!
Gonna try a plumbing balloon test plug. It's got a loop that I can mechanically fasten to a zip tie to the louvers of the snorkel.
