start stop isnt about mpg its about emissions. When you add up 10 seconds per light dozens of lights per day thousands of trucks it adds up. It's not a requirement. My hybrid will turn the engine on and off all the time as needed.

I also had problems until I disabled battery optimizations on the toyota app and let it run in the backgrouind. turns out samsung decided I didnt need that app and was killing it "to save battery".
