You would think.
This has to be an issue that Toyota is planning to deal with at some point, it sucked being without my truck for 3 weeks, even though I had a '24 Tundra Limited as a loaner vehicle.
Only the Off Road, Pro, and TH have no air dam. The SR, SR5, Sport, Limited, and their hybrid versions have it. And it seems that the Hybrid Off Road has one also, for whatever reason. There is slightly better fuel economy to be had by leaving it installed.
Everyone who hasn't got it hopes that their truck somehow won't get caught up in it. I pressure washed my truck weekly, sometimes biweekly for 3 months without issue, but then it happened one night driving home from work.
The truck will still drive fine while the malfunction is going off, but...
I asked specifically if the replacement shutter mechanism I received was an improved part, or if the mechanic did anything preventative during its install to keep this malfunction from happening again, and was told no. So I expect another malfunction to appear before too long.
I knew I would end up getting the grill shutter malfunction, so I wasn't surprised at all when it happened. I believe that everyone will get it.
Mine hit at 2,800 miles, and my truck sat at the dealership for 3 weeks because parts were unavailable.
People will point out that it's a brand new, completely redesigned truck, and that you shouldn't expect parts manufacturers to have products in stock right away, but that doesn't makes things any easier. I knew from the beginning that I would need functional sliders in order to drive my truck at...
I have no doubt they're good people, but possibly they should have delayed the launch of these sliders until they had the manufacturing down to a science. I dunno.
On May 8th they told me my sliders were at powder coat, and then another month went by, and I was told again they were at the powder coaters, and that they had to scrap my original sliders because the holes wouldn't line up. So basically, I still ended up getting sliders with bad holes.
One thing positive about them that I could note, is that shortly after I ordered my sliders for $1200, they put them on sale for 10% off, and I messaged their customer service about it and they refunded me $119 dollars.
That was nice, because it's always a bummer to see a product you just...
*Update to this post*
Cali Raised contacted me and offered to ship me out a new pair of sliders that fit properly, along with a $100 gift card to their store. This is great customer service, and I really appreciate them doing that. They also offered a partial refund of $250 dollars and a $100...
I agree 100%. I worked at a wrecking yard in my younger years, and pounding a socket over the locked lug is how we removed aftermarket wheels that we wanted to keep for ourselves.
Just my opinion, but those are ass. They're put together with a bunch of smaller pieces of tubing, because they obviously don't have a bender. And while yes they're lighter than steel sliders, they cannot support the weight of the truck, which makes them for looks only. They're charging the same...
The skid plate is designed for Toyota's off road line of trucks. Your truck is missing the front cross member that the skid plate bolts to. Victory 4x4 is releasing a cross member that can be purchased which bolts in place, but I'm not sure if it's available yet.
