I just use a worm hose clamp on the side hinge that you can lift off, just point the screw side down. If anything it makes it more difficult to just lift off the tailgate.
Yeah it's a pain. My previous truck had a 21 gallon tank and got 24-25 mpg on the highway, so fill ups yielded around 450 miles per tank. It's a shame, hopefully some vendors are working on a larger replacement tank.
I've had the issue many times in the past, after connecting/disconnecting a few times, I finally got the trailer mode unstuck. Had my TRD Sport in for 5k checkup and handed them a copy of the TSB, and told them this happens every time a connect a trailer. They went ahead and performed the BSM...
Toyota has a TSB, T-SB-0084-24, Trailer Driving Assist Active Message Displayed Without a Trailer Connected. I had my TRD Sport in to the dealer for 5K checkup and took a copy of the TSB with me. Even though I didn't have the message displayed they updated the BSM software anyway. I'm crossing...
Very surprising gas mileage, does the Trailhunter have different tranny/diff gearing than other trims? I have a TRD sport and getting 18-19 around town 22-23 highway. Just trying to grasp what the major difference may be. Tires maybe? Seems like I'm hearing this from a number of TH owners.
That's is my understanding also, no LSD and just A-TRAC on TRD Sport 4x4. A-TRAC just puts the brakes on the spinning and dials down the engine RPM's. IMO, you can do the same by taking your foot off the gas and lightly applying the brakes.
I haven't been through slippery/snowy conditions so far this year, but I'm a little concerned. In previous trucks I had auto mode which switched between 2 and 4 wheel depending on the conditions. I failed to do my homework and when the dealer advertised AWD I assumed auto. So one hand on the...
I'm an old geezer, so I like to test drive the vehicle I'm purchasing. Not sure I would feel comfortable paying for and taking delivery on a vehicle that was shipped to me. But I wouldn't have any reservations about purchasing a vehicle in another state. Toyota warranty is good at any dealership.
Not the same thing. An LSD is mechanical gear set in the rear differential and will also put power to the opposite wheel from the spinning wheel, much more street friendly. Great in slippery conditions.
A locker is usually engaged with a dash switch. Locks both axle shafts, great for...
Could be a number of factors, but the lack of a limited slip differential is the primary cause. I''ve owned a number of trucks over the years with LSD and never had a issue pulling my boat from any ramp while in 2wd. I was able to pull it 4hi with quite a bit of wheel spinning (note only one...
There are many things that I don't like about my TRD Sport, the lack of a limit slip differential and lack of auto 4wd. I had both of these on previous non-Toyota pickups and now I really miss them. Try pulling a boat on a slippery launch ramp with a TRD Sport and you will be sadly disappointed...
I had this happen to me. What a pain in the ass. Definitely a software bug. I did what the above posts state and was finally able to get it out of the mode.
Both of my trailers don't have brakes (light duty boat and a utility trailer). From now on if it asks if a trailer was connected I'll...
The tire pressure gauge also disappears on my 24 TRD Sport, quite annoying. Must be a software bug, hopefully they'll have a software fix for it shortly.
You can change them through the Carista. You need to purchase the OBD2 and download the app. The app has a monthly fee, first month free, can cancel after that.
You can purchase the OBD2 connector on Amazon
