When I purchased my previous Tacoma (SR5), that truck came with TRD wheels. The dealer pointed out to me they'd swapped them as part of some kind of drug deal with the customer of the TRD. Maybe the dealer with yours did something similar? That's the only other thing I can think of.
FWIW, mine...
To the OP's comments about sounds, yes, mine often sounds same. I haven't RPM-wise mapped out the rattle you're interested in, but I routinely hear it.
Ford's Coyote V8 has a similar noise, the "2K rattle". It happens around 1700 RPM and is loudest when the engine is cold. Many believe it's...
No significant changes or modifications planned. I've done the following thus far:
- Mud Flaps
- PPF, front third of truck, to include headlights, mirror backs, A-pillars and first 6 inches / 15 cm of roof
- Ceramic tint, windshield, 70%
- Ceramic tint, all other windows, 30%
- Bed mat and...
I installed the Michelin bed mat yesterday. I purchased the mat from the TreadAuto site.
Of your bed mat options, I'd consider the Michelin bed mat.
I'll occasionally use the truck bed for any number of things. A mat would work well. Someone using their's all the time or for severe duty might...

CAI can offer a few additional HP, which most often translates to decreased fuel economy.
If you're looking for longevity and fuel efficiency, I'd...
- Follow the maintenance schedule
- Use replacement parts that meet or exceed Toyota's...
I do not. Searching on-line and under the hood of my own, I could not confirm its location.
In previous generations, it was a plastic, square grey box. Or, it was a round, grilled speaker-looking plastic piece. I didn't see anything like that.
Clicking my own many times, I quickly discovered...
Another idea is looking at the "beeper" itself, that the connection to it is clean and secure.
"The alarm beeper (or "piezo buzzer") on the 4th Gen Toyota Tacoma is located on the driver's side of the engine bay, situated right behind the radiator support. It is a small gray plastic piece...
Setting the lack of sound aside, is the truck otherwise locking? All doors and tailgate?
I read through two threads of similar issues. In one, the Owner confirmed one of the doors was not closing securely. Walking-by, it looked shut, but was not. Something was keeping a rear door from latching...
My truck did not come with flaps.
I installed the Canadian kit, PN# PK389-35R00-P1, ordered from a US dealer parts site.
For a TRD Sport with an OEM-sized wheel and tire, they cover the entire width.
Installation is five minutes a corner.
No additional fasteners are needed, just the kit and...
