My experience stops at max 1500lbs utility trailers, so realistically first time towing something of this size and weight, you're probably right.
My expectations were way higher than they should've been haha.
Noted, ill look into that. As for the tires I'm also running Duratracs Load E lol
2008 Jay Feather EXP 19H - 3200lbs dry weight.
There's no doubt my payload was probably maxed out with the passengers I had.
Yessir, 3000lbs and some change dry weight, verified by the plaque on the door. 90% of the drive was dry weight driving, didn't have to drive far at all to fill up on water and dump.
I have a camper from 1996 permanently parked that's about 5-6ft longer than the one I towed and it's only...
Definitely agree, and was my first thought as well. Airbags or stiffer springs for towing on the regular is almost a must.
I was using a WDH, there's just simply no way I could've towed it without one through the foothills. The sag let off substantially using a WDH, my concern was the struggle...
Agreed, I definitely couldn't complain about the gas milage. My buddy in his 2nd gen burns a helluva lot more than I do towing his, he has to bring an emergency Jerrycan with him lol.
a 1 Ton and a new camper is on my radar for sure, I don't expect to be towing much with the Tacoma, otherwise...
Not sure what I was smoking when I wrote that lol but I get about 490kms to empty on a full. My average is sitting at around 14L/100kms, wish I had to record what I was getting in Kananaskis when I was out this weekend.
Towed a rental camper through the Alberta Foothills and into Kananaskis Country this weekend.
I rented a 3000lbs dry weight camper as I figured something smaller would be much better going through the hilly terrain, man was I wrong.
Let's start with the sag. Good god. I understand the hitch...
Never had the issue from a standstill but definitely experience it when on a slight roll. Usually have to hold it in place until it slips in gear. I have had 3rd gear lock out on me once bad before though, ended up in my grinding twice and ultimately needing to double clutch to get in. Never had...
How's those blind spots? I'm going to be towing a camper near the same length two weeks from now through Calgary, the foothills, and mountains and I'm having a hell of a time trying to find confirmed fitting universal tow mirrors but don't want to tow without them
Mostly worried about any lane...
Anyone have any recommendations for universal tow mirrors? Going to be towing a small camper two weekends from now and I know some of the universals don't fit all that well. Not looking to spend a fortune as it's kind've a one off for the year but don't want something that's useless lol
Nice, I just went Kayaking in Upper Kananaskis with my buddy. Living 7 hours away from the Rockies it was absolutely stunning and plan to do so again in a couple weeks. As much as the G7 annoyed me, it kept Kananaskis empty which was a bonus
The foothills absolutely wowed me to, definitely gave...
Anyone else experiencing what I can only assume is parking brake failure. Not sure if it's a dirty sensor, loose wiring, or what have you.
I noticed it once before a long while ago but thought nothing of it, but lately more commonly as I'm driving I'll get a message "Parking Brake Unavailable"...
Weird! That's odd I don't recall seeing a seat like that. Does yours have the fold down workstation attached to the backseat? Maybe that's why it's built differently.
I'd ask a few members on here to compare your seats, see what folks with the same trim as you got.
Hopefully EKR is speedy at...
I insisted on getting an oil change done at 500kms, I expected to pay for it but I didn't pay a cent, they just took one of my free oil changes and applied it to my first service.
Depends on the dealer you work with I guess.
I'm now out of free oil changes and will start doing them myself.
Yup I agree, I've noticed that too but the worst thing I find with switching to 2nd so prematurely is 1st gear is already short. It's a solid option for someone who doesn't have a lead foot, but when I do it I feel like I need to reach for the splitter switch on the shifter ?
I agree and noted pretty much all of it myself, great write up.
There's been one too many times I've accidentally slammed it in reverse instead of 1st, usually mostly when I'm not paying attention to the lights which means I'm also quick on letting off the clutch. If not for the warning chime...
Nice! About the same fit as mine, the crinkled corners is what ultimately throws me off but like I said, it really isn't noticable anymore unless you genuinely go looking for it.
I think it just needed time to form and settle much like the covers did ?
Over the last 5 months or so I've been challenging myself, absolutely no iMT period.
I've gotten myself to a point where I actually prefer no iMT and only turn it on when offroading to help save the clutch a little.
I can easily without thinking, pure muscle memory heal-toe myself from 6th...
